Well all right, all right, all right. It seems like everyone is finding a way to get through social distancing right now, even celebrities. For Matthew McConaughey, that means taking full advantage of technology. First he inspired fans everywhere by calling for unity during the coronavirus pandemic in an Instagram video. Then he Zoomed into a faculty discussion at UT Austin’s Journalism School to lift spirits. And now he’s hosting virtual bingo nights for seniors, because he’s Matthew McConaughey and that’s just how he rolls. (Or should that be dabs?)The True Detective star and his family gathered around the computer screen to play a little bingo with residents of the Spectrum Retirement Communities on April 5, calling out numbers while sporting a backwards cap and checkered shirt. His mom Kay and wife Camila Alves were there along with the kids, and they all got in on the excitement when a resident won.“Ever play virtual bingo with #MatthewMcConaughey? You’d be a whole lot cooler if you did! The residents at The Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living got to play virtual bingo with #MatthewMcConaughey and his family!” Spectrum shared in a Facebook post. “Thank you to Matthew, his wife Camila, and his mom Kay for hosting our residents for a few rounds of virtual bingo! Our residents had a great time playing, and they loved talking with Matthew about his family heritage and his favourite drink.”
It seems like social distancing has been especially tough on residents at seniors homes lately, as their interactions with fellow residents and family have been extremely limited in a bid to stop the spread of COVID-19. E! News reports that Spectrum residents had previously shared a video asking McConaughey to visit them, but he didn’t have a chance until now. Because you know, your options are limited while you’re self-isolating. Why not spread the joy?Of course the actor has been spreading joy in other ways too, like by donating money and pledging to help the Los Angeles Unified School District keep children fed and in touch with their teachers during shutdowns. Meanwhile, before Hollywood shut down productions to help flatten the curve, the Oscar-winner had just wrapped a publicity tour for his latest film, The Gentleman, and was in production on Sing 2 (he voices the lead koala, Buster Moon).Making surprise online visits and spending time with the fam-jam isn’t the only way the 50-year-old has been passing the time though. On April 6 he also announced a new Instagram series of videos that he’ll be hosting, McConaughey Takes. In each episode the actor promises to take a deeper dive into some of his most memorable roles, starting with his first-ever rom-com, How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Sounds like an extension of his Script to Screen class he teaches at the University of Texas at Austin, no?

“I’m going to do a little something different with my Instagram right now seeing as in these times of the coronavirus we’re all sort of quarantining ourselves at home. Which means we have more screen time, more things to watch, more things to upload, download, and check out in our homes,” he said in a post. So I’m going to be going over a lot of my movies, giving you some fun tidbits that maybe you hadn’t heard before. Maybe you’ll find ‘em funny, maybe you’ll want to rent the movie cause they’re all streaming out there anyway. Check ‘em out.”Sounds like the guy is going to be busier in self-isolation than out of it. Either way fans of his dozens and dozens of movies are undoubtedly feeling like they won their own game of Bingo right now, too.[video_embed id='1934924']RELATED: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend talk 'Chrissy's Court' in quarantine[/video_embed]
