Lil Nas X has skyrocketed to fame over the past couple of years, and as any celeb will tell you, once you’ve got fame, fans and the public will immediately want the dirt on your dating life. Are you dating? Are you married? Are you canoodling and getting cosy? The rapper/singer/songwriter is now gracing the cover of the October issue of CR Men, and gives readers a little peak into his private, personal, love life.“I’m dating someone right now,” he told Carine Roitfeld’s publication, which hits newsstands October 9
th. “We’re not in a relationship yet, but it’s been on and off for the past few months. I’m maybe going to try to go steady this time.”
The 21-year-old star, who broke records at the top of
Billboard’s Hot 100 charts with “Old Town Road,” and was lavished with
six Grammy nominations for it (winning two, including Best Music Video and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance), came out as
gay in 2019, and according to him, he finds the rumour mill goes wild whenever he’s spotted with another man.“I feel like if I put any guy solo in a picture with me, we’re automatically dating,” he laughed in the
CR Men cover story. “One time, I was sitting in Subway with my brother, and then a few hours later there was [a headline], ‘Lil Nas X and his boyfriend eating Subway to celebrate 17 weeks at number one.’”[video_embed id='2040367']RELATED: Lil Nas X getting ready to drop a children's book[/video_embed]And while the musician has
celebrated and given back to queer youth culture, and even wrote a
children’s book, some people in his inner circle haven’t been so charitable when it comes to his queer identity. When he came out to his family, he says his father, “said some very Christian things” like his homosexuality “could be the devil tempting” him.“It sucks,” he said of that exchange, “But I guess I saw it coming.”That’s really upsetting and our heart goes out to him for having to deal with that, but it seems that, for now, he has a lot on his plate to keep his mind occupied. Overnight success can keep anyone on their toes, and for him, his newfound fame comes with a range of emotions. “Sometimes I’m laughing about it, sometimes I’m crying about it. I’m still discovering the magnitude of it all.”[video_embed id='-1']Before you go: Baby girl laughs at her dad's dance moves[/video_embed]
