Dick Wolf may be known for incorporating violent storylines into shows like Chicago Fire, Law & Order and FBI, but in real life the creator isn’t standing for any kind of violent or aggressive behaviour—especially when it comes to his staff. The bigwig revealed he’s fired a writer after the employee shared a series of disturbing posts on social media, one of which threatened to “light up” looters.

Craig Gore, one of the newly hired scribes for the upcoming Christopher Meloni starring Law & Order: SVU spinoff, is looking for new work after losing his job for inappropriate social media comments. Things like holding up a weapon with the caption “curfew” or threatening to “light mother---ers up who are trying to f--- with my property,” according to Variety

I am terminating Craig Gore immediately,” Wolf said in a statement. Meanwhile Paradigm, the company that represented the writer, also cut ties with him. “Craig Gore is no longer a Paradigm client. We condemn his post in the strongest possible terms,” a spokesperson told the publication. Before being hired on to write for the new SVU spinoff, Gore had worked on another Dick Wolf show, Chicago PD, as well as on the CBS series S.W.A.T. starring Shemar Moore. His comments were opposite to what those series are publicly promoting: on the same day as Gore’s posts the Twitter account for the S.W.A.T. writers’ room called on police to deescalate, rather than inflame, protest situations.

So what does Meloni have to say about all of this? After fans started bringing the situation to his attention online, he revealed that he doesn’t even know who Gore is. That’s Detective Stabler for you. “Truth: Matt Olmstead is my showrunner,” he wrote on Twitter. “I have gotten no word on ANY hirings. I have no idea who this person is or what they do.”

Actually, make that “did.” Perhaps Wolf can hire a black writer in Gore’s place? Fans can only hope.
