Lady Gaga has spent the past few months campaigning for Joe Biden and her entire career campaigning for everything that President Trump is seemingly against. Gaga’s latest efforts to encourage people to vote for Biden have put her in Trump’s crosshairs and resulted in the president making disparaging remarks against the popstar and actor. Shockingly, Trump’s comments about Gaga, and his presidency in general, have not been enough to dissuade the Grammy winner’s father from voting for the Republican candidate.Ensuring an awkward holiday season this year, Joe Germanotta voiced his support for the Trump campaign even after the president criticized his daughter. On Tuesday night, Germanotta tweeted that he had voted for Trump. In a second tweet that has now been deleted, Germanotta wrote “You may have noticed my political and spiritual beliefs are different. Liberty and freedom of choice would not be political.”Germanotta is seemingly alluding to his beliefs being different from those held by his famous daughter, whose beliefs include support for the LGBTQ+ community, the Black Lives Matter movement, victims of domestic assault, science, not putting children in cages and a real science-led response to the coronavirus pandemic which at last count had killed more than 233,000 Americans.Trump addressed Biden supporter Lady Gaga during his rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month. The President alluded in the most disgusting way possible that he has dirt on Gaga and referenced Biden, saying “Now he’s got Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga is not too good. I could tell you plenty of stories. I could tell you stories about Lady Gaga, I know a lot of stories. Lady Gaga.” Trump called out Gaga one day after a pro-Trump piece was published that called the Chromatica singer an "anti-fracking artist." Unlike Trump’s rally, this one included physical distancing and safety precautions. Gaga encouraged Americans to vote for president who did not condone sexually assaulting women.
Gaga has already had a difficult 2020 with her father. Following the onset of Covid-19, Germanotta’s New York City restaurant Joanne Trattoria, which counts Gaga as a part owner, was forced to shut down. Unbeknownst to the popstar, her father started a GoFundMe page asking for donations that would be used to pay his staff. Germanotta removed the page after facing backlash. Gaga is worth an estimated $39 million.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Adorably tiny baby goat cuddles with cozy and caring dog [/video_embed]
