Kevin Federline used to be considered a joke; there to carry Britney Spears' bags and hold her hand during their short-lived marriage. But after they split and Spears went through those nightmare years, he stepped up for their boys. This time, however, K-Fed stepped in after Brit's dad reportedly become physical with their eldest son.According to
The Blast, Jamie Spears and his grandson, Sean Preston, got into an argument and the 13-year-old got so scared he locked himself in his room. That's when Spears allegedly broke down the door and once he got to Sean, sources claim he "violently shook" the teen. Once Britney got wind of the situation, she got her eldest and her other son, Jayden James, out of there, contacted Kevin to tell him what had gone down and asked him to take the children for the night. The incident has since sparked a child abuse investigation after Federline and his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, filed a police report alleging Sean was physically abused, and both boys were also granted restraining orders against their grandfather."Britney did the right thing and removed the children and took them out of there," Kaplan told
People, adding that in spite of the allegations and legal issues, Federline still wants the boys to have "continuing and meaningful contact with their mother." This comes following news that Spears and Federline had recently come to a new child custody arrangement, that gave Federline 70 per cent of custodial rights and Britney's visits still need to be supervised.
Us Weekly reported that K-Fed must approve the adult that is present with Britney during the visits and it can't be Jamie.
Us' source claimed "Jamie left town before cops could question him" and "hasn't made himself available to authorities to answer questions investigators have," but
The Blast reported that since the police report was taken, all parties had spoken to investigators.Jamie became seriously ill after suffering a "life-threatening"
colon rupture last year and his health issues were confirmed by Britney in a January
Instagram post. Britney cancelled the remainder of her Vegas residency to focus on her father and spend time with her family but it may have all become too much because in April, Brit checked herself into a mental health facility. The singer and her former backup dancer divorced in July 2007 after two years of marriage. For the last 12 years, Britney's life and career has been controlled by Jamie Spears since she suffered an infamous meltdown in 2008 that resulted in her hospitalization and K-Fed gaining sole physical and legal custody of their two sons. It's unknown how Jamie's recent alleged actions against Sean Preston will factor into his conservatorship over Britney, if at all.
The Blast added that Jamie will likely face a misdemeanor battery charge for allegedly "inflicting unjustifiable physical pain on a child."
