As the coronavirus crisis continues, many celebrities are doing their part by donating money to relief funds and using their platforms to encourage people to practice safe social distancing. The latest famous face to lend itself to the effort is Kevin Bacon, whose six degrees of separation has suddenly become more relevant than ever.“Hey folks, you know me, right? I’m technically only six degrees away from you,” said Bacon in a new Instagram video. “Right now, like people around the world, I’m staying home, because it saves lives and it is the only way we’re going to slow down the spread of this Coronavirus. Because the contact that you make with someone who makes contact with someone else, that may be what makes somebody’s mom or grandpa or wife sick. Every one of us has someone who is worth staying home for,” said Bacon. The actor is encouraging other people to announce who they’re staying home for with a video or a sign showing the person’s name and using the hashtag #IStayHomeFor. Bacon is asking people to tag six friends in their post in an effort to share the movement and spread the message that staying home is a must.[video_embed id='1924215']RELATED: Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel and Colbert deliver monologues from home[/video_embed]Bacon showed off his own sign with the hashtag, writing the name of his wife and fellow actor Kyra Sedgwick, announcing The Closer star as the person he’s staying home for. Bacon used a pig-shaped chalkboard for his video. Pig? Bacon? Oh, he’s good. Sedgwick makes a brief appearance in the video in voice only, displaying the family’s commitment to remaining six feet away from others at all times. The Bacon/Sedgwick family are really nailing the quarantine message.

#IStayHomeFor @kikkosedg! Hey everybody, it’s now so important to stay home and keep our distance from others if you are able. It’s one way we can help prevent the spread of #Coronavirus and save lives. The more of us who can, make it safer for those who can’t. So if you’re home too like me, post a video or photo with a sign like mine, telling who you are staying home for and ask 6 friends to do the same. Post it with the hashtag #IStayHomeFor so I can see and share. The more folks involved, the merrier - We’re all connected by various degrees (Trust me, I know!) I’m kicking it off with @jimmyfallon @eltonjohn @Brandicarlile @kevinhart4real @ddlovato @davidbeckham - but I encourage YOU ALL to join in too! Let’s use this 6 Degree thing to do some good! . . . . #Corona #Coronavirus #StayHome #StaySafe #6Degrees #ThinkingOfYou #SpreadTheWord

Bacon challenged six of his famous friends to take the #IStayHomeFor challenge, including Jimmy Fallon, Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Kevin Hart, Demi Lovato and David Beckham. If this seems like an impressive and diverse list, don’t forget–Kevin Bacon is only six degrees away from every celeb, so his contact list is stacked.David Beckham has already responded to Bacon’s challenge. Beckham posted a picture of himself holding a sign and announcing that he’s staying home for his wife Victoria Beckham and the couple’s four children, including Brooklyn, Bronx, Harper and Cruz, who makes a brief appearance in the pic. Beckham tagged six others to get in on the movement, including his eldest son Brooklyn and close friend James Corden.
Elton John has also joined the #IStayHomeFor challenge, following in fellow Brit Beckham’s footsteps and announcing that he’s staying home for the safety of his family, including husband David Furnish and sons Zachary and Elijah.
Bacon’s nominee Jimmy Fallon has yet to post his own #IStayHomeFor picture, but the comedian has been promoting self-isolation for days. The late night host is continuing to release new episodes of The Tonight Show, evacuating his studio at 30 Rockefeller in downtown New York and filming segments on his smartphone from his home. Guests, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, are being interviewed from the safety of their own residences for the new at-home edition of the nightly show.[video_embed id='1916454']BEFORE YOU GO: Yes, there’s a right way you should be washing your hands [/video_embed]
