After a random fan called on Gomez followers to “bombard” one of Hailey Bieber’s livestreams on Instagram, telling them to comment how “Selena is better” and to “go after” her in general, Bieber stood up for his wife. In his own Instagram story he called out the poor behaviour and even shared the video with his fans.
“This sad excuse of a human just encouraged people on video to literally go after my wife telling people to say that my previous relationship was better so on and so forth,” Bieber wrote.
Although Bieber shared the video of the woman telling fans to attack his wife he didn’t reveal who she was. Instead, in the next story he added some further thoughts on the whole thing. “After watching that I could easily let it steal my joy, but then I think about her life and how miserable she must be to want to spend her life trying to make others feel small,” he added. “The lesson here is SHES THE ONE MISSING OUT.. life is fulfilling when you uplift and add value to people! A life where you want to make others feel small will leave you with no friends and no real JOY.”
Hailey also shared Bieber’s posts on her own Instagram stories, before adding that she normally doesn’t give energy to these kinds of things because she needs to protect herself from it. However this time she felt the need to address the level of anger and hate. “I would never in a million years wish for someone to be treated this way and I will never condone this kind of hateful behavior,” she wrote.
“I want only to support, uplift, and encourage other women in this industry and wish them nothing but love and success and I wish for all my followers and supporters to do the same,” she continued. The 24-year-old model then addressed the woman from the video, adding that she hopes she finds, “love, peace and happiness in this life.”
So what does Selena have to say about all of this? For now she’s staying mum, but she has spoken out in the past about fans who pit her against Hailey. In October 2019 after Gomez dropped “Lose You To Love Me” and fans started speculating the song was about Bieber, Gomez went live on her own Instagram to thank fans for the support but to ask them to practice kindness. “I do not stand for women tearing other women down and I will never, ever be by that. So please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is, if you’re my fans, don’t be rude to anybody, please,” she said. “Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment. Just please, for me. Know that that’s not my heart and my heart is only to release things that are me, and that I’m proud of. And that’s all I’ll say.”
For those who need a refresher, Bieber and Gomez were first romantically linked in 2011, and they had an on-again, off-again relationship for several years until they finally called it quits in 2018, the same year Bieber married Hailey. Earlier this year Gomez directly addressed her previous relationship with Bieber, saying that it was emotionally abusive and she was happy it was over.
“I’ve found the strength in it. It’s dangerous to stay in a victim mentality. And I’m not being disrespectful, I do feel I was a victim to certain abuse,” Gomez said in January. “I had to find a way to understand it as an adult. And I had to understand the choices I was making. As much as I definitely don’t want to spend the rest of my life talking about this, I am really proud that I can say I feel the strongest I’ve ever felt and I’ve found a way to just walk through it with as much grace as possible.”
In other words, it’s probably time to move on, Jelena stans.
