Actor John Krasinski of
The Office and
A Quiet Place fame has really spun his quarantine into a cause for good. Emily Blunt’s husband, not content with sitting back and doing nothing during the COVID-19 global pandemic, decided that while he can’t be on the same level as doctors or nurses, he can at least honour them with his new YouTube show that has been making the viral waves as of late.A few weeks ago, he launched ‘
Some Good News,’ a satirical daily news show, from his home office as a way to provide some comedic relief to all of us stuck at home during this quarantine. His show has only had a handful of episodes, but he has leveraged his star power to bring on some other big names, like
Office bud Steve Carrell, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and even
Robert De Niro doing a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it weather report. Using the “good news” tag and running with it, the 40-year-old actor and director has made sure to include reports and interviews with people and stories that uplift the soul whilst simultaneously making us glad we have one. That’s some good Youtubin’.[video_embed id='1934687']RELATED: John Krasinski dropped a star-studded second episode of ‘Some Good News’[/video_embed]His latest episode is no different, as he brings in some major star power to shine a light on those doing good in this world. Krasinski, a Boston native himself, spoke via video-chat with the medical staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis, and gave them a few surprises. Not the least of which being a shout-out from Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz.
After telling the staff how “unbelieveable honoured” we was to be chatting with them, Krasinski's surprise guest Ortiz chimed in, “I gotta tell you guys, from the very bottom of my heart, how much I love and respect you for what you guys are doing. Taking your life, taking your time, that’s something that goes beyond everything.”Ortiz then announced to their gleeful delight that they would be getting four tickets to Fenway Park for life. “I’ve been on the wait list for 16 years, but still heard nothing,” Krasinski joked (we think). That’s a pretty sweet surprise, but it didn’t end there. Krasinski then announced that doctors and nurses across America will find some financial relief from AT&T with their cell phone bills nullified for three months! “This week, when they found out that we’d be honouring our healthcare heroes this episode, AT&T reached out and asked how they could help. Having no idea what I was talking about, I said, ‘Maybe you could cover the cell phone bills of every nurse and doctor in America for a month.’ Their response? ‘How ’bout three!'” Krasinski said. Wow, that’s some serious generosity in motion. The episode wrapped up with John joining the hospital staff via iPad on a duck boat ride to Fenway park, which they had all to themselves, and were treated to massive thank you’s on the jumbotron from Boston’s mayor, Ortiz, and a gaggle of other Red Sox’ers. Okay, we’re not crying, we just have some hand sanitizer in our eyes. *Sniffle*[video_embed id='1936641']BEFORE YOU GO: Four-year-old sings sad song while making sandwich[/video_embed]
