John Cena secretly married his Canadian girlfriend

John Cena might not be Canadian, but he celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving in style on October 12 when he and his Canadian girlfriend, Shay Shariatzadeh, secretly got hitched in Florida.The pair exchanged private vows in Tampa on Monday, confirms PWInsider. TMZ, which also got its hands on the couple’s official records, reveals that Cena and his girlfriend wife became engaged on the downlow and filed for a marriage certificate earlier this month. As celebs who don’t want to call too much attention to themselves do, naturally.At time of press, neither reps for the couple nor the couple themselves had confirmed the news, but the day following the nuptials Cena did write a cryptic post on Twitter. “’I will be happy if I only get (x).’ This is a great way to mold an entire life spent chasing happiness and never finding joy,” he shared with followers. (Sounds like he found his joy, to be sure.) And in the days leading up to the event, he seemed to be as lovey-dovey as ever.

Cena and Shariatzadeh were first romantically linked in March 2019 when fans spotted them out and about together in her hometown of Vancouver (the engineer grew up in VanCity and is a Canadian citizen who was born in Iran). They later made their red carpet debut in October of that year when they attended the Playing With Fire premiere.Rumours that they had become engaged surfaced earlier this year when she was spotted at a San Diego amusement park with a ring on her left hand. “They had just walked onto the pier together giggling and looked over all happy together. I noticed a huge ring on her left hand ring finger. It looked pretty big,” a source told Us Weekly at the time. “There were a few other people with them walking behind them. He was super nice about taking a picture with me.”This isn’t the first marriage for Cena. He was previously married to his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Huberdeau from 2009 to 2012. He was also engaged to fellow wrestler Nikki Bella after dating for about six years, but the pair broke up in April 2018 because she wanted children and he did not. They briefly reconciled before calling it quits for good that summer. Bella is now with Dancing With the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev, and the pair recently welcomed a baby boy named Matteo.It definitely seems like things are coming up Cena in 2020. In addition to solidifying his love with Shariatzadeh, Cena appears to be busier than ever. He’s starring in the upcoming TV series Peacemaker (based on his role as the character in The Suicide Squad), he’s in a handful of upcoming movies including F9, Vacation Friends and The Janson Directive, and he continues to be a face of the WWE.Congrats to the happy couple!
