If you were scrolling through your Instagram feeds this week and you happened to see one of Joe Manganiello’s latest posts, you were probably wondering to yourself who the heck that was. Nope, the actor didn’t get new glasses or a funky hairdo. But he was missing his signature facial hair, and Baby Face Manganiello is unrecognizable. For real. In fact, like Mike before him, the difference is kind of Magic-al.Unlike many dudes who are growing out beards and ‘staches during self-isolation, Manganiello is apparently taking this time to start fresh with his own facial canvas. Why? Well who knows. There was no warning or accompanying video to explain the freshly shaven look, which is probably why it’s so shocking to behold. One thing is for sure though, and that’s that fans are always used to seeing him with stubble. From Magic Mike and What to Expect When You’re Expecting to True Blood and How I Met Your Mother, this guy has never not had facial hair.

Vergara included it as a part of a Sunday Funday backyard barbecue post, while Manganiello zoomed in on the pic and captioned it #creepin. If you look closely enough, he’s kind of invoking a younger Jack Nicholson or Bruce Campbell with those side-eyed peepers and giant grin. It’s a look that’s so distracting that even Vergara’s pup Bubbles, who is used to stealing the social media spotlight, is almost hidden beside that pillow. Almost.Fans obviously has reactions too. “Wtf…omg I’ve never seen you without a beard,” wrote one person in the comments. “I know who can play Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead remakes,” wrote another. “Everyone’s growing a corona beard and you shave yours,” another person wrote alongside some laughing-tear-faced emojis.Manganiello and Vergara are currently self-isolating at their gorgeous home and equally beautiful backyard in California, as Vergara tackles her first official season as a judge on America’s Got Talent from the comfort of her couch. The backyard post seems to be pretty on brand for the sun-loving couple as they escape the current California heatwave; Vergara also posted pics of her husband flipping burgers and snuggling with Bubbles. Because what’s cuter than a giant dude bonding with a tiny little pup?
Meanwhile aside from new facial hair considerations, Manganiello appears to be taking this physical distancing time to reflect on his bride and their lives together. On SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show earlier this month the actor opened up about first meeting Vergara at the White House several years ago, and how he got her Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson to introduce them. When he learned a few weeks later that she was single and filming a movie in New Orleans, he decided he didn’t want to miss his shot and so he got on a plane.“I said ‘I’m coming to New Orleans, if you’re not available I’m just gonna do some sightseeing, but I’m gonna be there and if you’re free I can take you out,'” he recalled. “She said, ‘You’re crazy.’ I said, ‘I’ll see you next week.'”Clearly, she fell for the facial hair too.[video_embed id='-1']BEFORE YOU GO: Watch Katharine McPhee adorably hijack David Foster's performance[/video_embed]
