Jim Carrey is a lot of things: comedian, movie star, graffiti artist, and now, novelist. Last week he casually dropped a semi-autobiographical, satirical “novel” called Memoirs and Misinformation about his trials and tribulations through the Hollywood machine, with the main protagonist of this “novel” sporting the name – you guessed it – Jim Carrey. Howard Stern interviewed him about the love stories that weave throughout the narrative, and couldn’t help but hone in on one very touching detail – Jim calls former flame Renée Zellweger the love of his life.“I'm assuming that that's true?” Stern asked, speaking to Carrey via video-chat.“She was special to me,” he nodded. “Very special. I think she's lovely.”[video_embed id='1790137']RELATED: Renée Zellweger says she doesn’t remember most of her 30s[/video_embed]It’s a very intimate and shocking detail (if true, this is a satirical novel after all), because Canada’s favourite son and the Oscar-winning actress were a very blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Hollywood couple. They met while filming the odd rom-com Me, Myself & Irene in 1999 and dated for a year before splitting in 2000. Anyone else surprised that The Ace Venture: Pet Detective star didn’t say this about either of his two ex-wives (Melissa Womer and Lauren Holly) or his long-term relationship with Jenny McCarthy that lasted for five years? When the New York shock-jock probed Carrey on what he meant, asking if he felt like he shouldn’t have “f**ked that up” all those years ago, The Mask star replied, “I don't regret. I don't have those things, but I do appreciate the people that have come through my life for the good that that they gave me.”He continued, “I don't pine for anybody […] it's just my way of saying there was a very important thing there, you know, and to recognize that.”Jim, that’s sweet and all, but will you and Renée be rekindling your romance? Because we need this in 2020, for Pete’s sake! Not revealing more than he felt he needed to, the 58-year-old shifted focus to talk about his romance nearly 40 years ago with singer Linda Ronstadt.“She was so cool, I gotta tell you!” he gushed. “So the the night we met was at The Comedy Store, and I heard that Linda Ronstadt needed an opening act and so I did my show in the original room and I got a standing ovation. I really slaughtered the room and I went outside and I don't know what I was thinking. I was just in like 21-year-old Mack Daddy mode. I don't know what the hell it was that possessed me but I just immediately adored her. She came up and she said, ‘wow you're really good, would you like to come on the road with me?’ And I said, ‘no but I'll go out with you.’ Like without a thought. […] And she kind of screwed up her face and she said, ‘okay.’”So cute! But uh, did he just say, “Mack Daddy mode?”Linda Ronstadt (whose 74th birthday is today!) has never married. Renée Zellweger went onto marry musician Kenny Chesney in 2005, but they divorced after 4 months. She’s also had romances with Bradley Cooper and Jack White.[video_embed id='-1']RELATED: Jim Carrey 'didn't like what was happening in Hollywood'[/video_embed]
