Jennifer Lawrence may have walked, or in her case, adorably tripped down the aisle sooner than we expected. The Oscar winner got engaged to fiancé Cooke Maroney earlier this year and on Monday the pair were spotted at a New York courthouse.According to Page Six, Lawrence and Maroney were seen at New York City’s marriage bureau on Monday, where they were joined by two security guards, a friend, and celebrity photographer Mark Seliger. Or, as we are now calling the group, two witnesses, a photographer and a bridesmaid. Lawrence was snapped wearing a grey blazer and jeans while Maroney was in a white sweater and was reportedly seen covering his ring finger. In a tweet that has now been deleted (or possibly ceased and desisted), an onlooker wrote “When you go get your marriage license and Jennifer Lawrence walks by to tie the knot before your eyes. Yeah, kids, City Hall is COOL. The place to go!”Lawrence was spotted leaving the building holding a piece of paper, which could mean anything. Maybe she and Maroney were picking up a marriage license for later this year, although it's interesting that the couple brought Seliger and his camera equipment with them. Of course, he may have been recording the moment for a series on the couple’s wedding, including obtaining the marriage license. Or maybe they got married on Monday and are having a big party later. Paperwork is a pain and getting it done early is usually a good idea.Lawrence has previously worked with Seliger, who has also snapped Kurt Cobain, Lenny Kravitz, Mick Jagger, Susan Sarandon, Tony Bennett and many more. In August, Seliger shared a portrait of Lawrence on his Instagram.
If Lawrence and Maroney did get married this week, they’re slightly ahead of schedule. The pair are planning on celebrating with a large wedding in October, with Lawrence speaking to Catt Sadler about the wedding plans on her podcast NAKED with Catt Sadler. Lawrence admitted that she was left in tears after trying to plan a last-minute bachelorette party and realizing that none of her friends could attend. “I’ve cried. I’ve officially joined the club.”Thankfully, the rest of the wedding plans have gone more smoothly. “I’ve been in a good place. I haven’t been neurotic about it. I’m, like, too lazy to be neurotic,” said Lawrence. “I saw a dress I liked, I was like, ‘That’s the dress.’ I saw a venue, I was like, ‘Cool, we got the venue.'”Maroney, who is an art gallery director in New York, and Lawrence were introduced by a friend and began dating in June 2018, with the pair getting engaged in February. Lawrence told Sadler that she plans on taking Maroney’s name, but keeping Lawrence for professional purposes. “I just met Cooke and I wanted to marry him,” said Lawrence. “We wanted to marry each other. We wanted to commit fully and you know, he’s my best friend. I feel very honored to become a Maroney.”
