Bo Burnham once sang to Amazon founder and billionaire space explorer Jeff Bezos, “Come on Jeff! Get’ em!” and that’s exactly what Bezos did recently after a video of Bezos, his date Lauren Sanchez, and Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio circulated on the internet, seemingly showing Sanchez swooning over dashing DiCaprio, almost ignoring Bezos.
To add insult to injury, Leo was standing on a top step while Bezos and Lauren were on a bottom step, adding a physical and towering gap during this perceived swoon. So Bezos whipped out his patented trolling hat, and responded to the video with loads of tongue-in-cheek hubris.
“Leo, come over here, I want to show you something…,” Bezos tweeted Monday, including a musclebound photo of himself leaning over a warning sign that reads, “DANGER! STEEP CLIFF FATAL DROP.”
Ice cold, Jeff. Titanic-sized ice! Bezos also purposefully quote-tweeted the viral video of Sanchez beaming up at Leo. Bezos is such a pro at cheeky, audacious trolling, that Bo Burnham’s song about Jeff was right: “Amateurs can f***ing suck it!"
Bezos and Sanchez were at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday (the same event where Paul Mescal and Phoebe Bridgers made their red carpet debut) when they ran into The Wolf Of Wall Street star. While Sanchez appears absolutely besotted with Leo (can you blame her?), she and Bezos have actually been together for almost three years, going official with their relationship in January 2019, shortly after Bezos announced his intention to divorce from his wife of 25 years, Mackenzie Scott.
She even posted about the event to her official IG, giving Bezos the same googly eyes she gave DiCaprio (and her caption doesn’t mention anything about her run-in with the Titanic heartthrob).
That doesn’t mean the internet didn’t have fun with this eyebrow-raising moment moment caught on video.
Poor Jeff: you can be the second-richest man in the world, but money can’t buy love (or in this case, an extreme case of googly eyes).
