Sandy Garossino is a writer, former trial lawyer and passionate politico—she’s also known as mom to Canadian musician Grimes (born Claire Boucher), which makes her grandma to baby X Æ A-12. What she is not, however, is here for recent tweets from her daughter’s partner, Elon Musk, a fact she made very clear this past Victoria Day long weekend when she popped up on social media to take a well-aimed shot at the Tesla CEO.Long before the birth of his infant son, Musk had been building a reputation for himself as a bit of a Twitter trainwreck (journalist Yashar Ali aptly described the Space-X founder’s 140-character diatribes as Kanye-esque). Recent posts have ranged from declarations about reopening Tesla plants in defiance of physical distancing orders to a reply-guy-style correction of Grimes’ explanation of their infant son’s name (the woman just gave birth and Musk’s priority is to call out her airplane-related typo on Twitter?).[video_embed id='1952582']RELATED: Elon Musk and Grimes welcome baby boy[/video_embed]Somehow, through all of this, Grimes’ mom stayed mum but when Musk urged his followers to “take the red pill” this past weekend (a political dog-whistle for Trump supporters and men’s rights activists alike), Sandy Garossino decided to speak up. The tweet has since been deleted (bless the fast fingers that screen-capped the exchange) but not before Garossino’s cutting words, which involved blasting Musk for "blaring MRA bull****" after his partner just went through "a challenging childbirth and pregnancy," could be preserved for posterity. For anyone confused as to how such a seemingly context-free tweet could cause so much outrage, the explanation lies with Keanu Reeves and The Matrix. When Reeves’ character Neo is given the choice between taking the red pill or the blue one, he’s making the choice to either see beyond the illusion of the simulation or to remain in the blissful ignorance constructed by those who want to prevent him from seeing the “truth.” The analogy has, as Garossino points out, been co-opted by MRA and alt-right types. The film’s co-director Lilly Wachowski also had harsh words for Musk after seeing him misuse her work.Keanu, who himself is not on social media, didn't weigh in on Musk's tweet.[video_embed id='1880995']RELATED: Maye Musk says she knew her son Elon was special when he was three years old[/video_embed]
