Will Smith and co. did it right when they brought the gang back together in that famous living room set earlier in November. There were tears (RIP James Avery), plenty of funny moments (OG audition tapes!), fond memories (basically anything involving Will and Carlton), and a big shock when Smith sat down with original Aunt Viv portrayer Janet Hubert for the first time in 27 years. Catch it in full now on Crave.
What would Halloween really be without the Sanderson sisters? Luckily for fans, Bette Midler seems to agree because she brought the sibs back together earlier this year for a virtual fundraiser. There, the actors appeared to have just as much reuniting as the viewers did watching. So much so that later on Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy all promised that if Disney ever does go ahead and dust off those brooms for a sequel, they’re totally on board.
Fans everywhere were singing in anticipation when Disney announced it was bringing the HSM crew back to sing “We’re All in This Together” during its inaugural Sing-Along event earlier this year. However while some were jazzed to see everyone together again, fans were left more than a little disappointed after Zac Efron and his spotty wi-fi merely introduced the rest of the singers rather than participate himself. Going back to high school is never quite like you remember, is it?
No matter how you feel about the upcoming new Ghostbusters movie (or the female-centric one from a few years back), you have to admit that seeing Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts and director Ivan Reitman together again was a good time. Especially when they revealed just how much of that original film was improvised, or when the personalities shared some sweet tributes to late actor/director Harold Ramis. Cue the Slimer-sized tears.
Remember back in April when Fran Drescher proved that she’s always ahead of the game by organizing a Nanny reunion on Zoom? Fans were definitely there for the virtual table read of the show’s original pilot, because as Fran herself reminded us all at the time, “Laughter is the best medicine.”
Hilary Duff fans everywhere were plenty upset when they learned that the Lizzie McGuire reboot isn’t exactly going ahead as planned as a result of creative differences. So is it any surprise that viewers were jazzed when Duff hosted a virtual table read with the original cast back in May? They assembled to perform the 2001 episode “Between a Rock and a Bra Place,” and the results were just as hilarious as you’d expect.
Fans were more than ready to lace up their PF Flyers and play ball when the cast of this classic flick assembled to chat and reminisce about the movie that coined the phrase, “You’re killin’ me, smalls.” Not only were stars Patrick Renna, Art LaFleur, Brandon Quintin Adams, Chauncey Leopardi, Grant Gelt, Marley Shelton, Marty York, Shane Obedzinski, Tom Guiry, Victor DiMattia, Wil Horneff, and director/writer David Mickey Evans on hand for the shindig, but the entire thing was appropriately hosted by Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner and his wife, Kourtney Turner.
Who needs six seasons and a movie when you can have six seasons and a Zoom call? In May, the Community cast (plus creator Dan Harmon) brought everyone back to Greendale to spread a little joy with a virtual table read of “Cooperative Polygraphy,” followed by a Q&A session. Sure, no one would actually confirm whether that “movie” part of the show’s campaign would eventually happen, but for now seeing everyone together (save Chevy Chase, whose character Pierce wasn’t in the episode) was joy-sparking enough.
As the Hogwarts crew readies to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone next year, the cast definitely got any jitters out of the way this year when they reunited in November. Led by Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), the reunion also featured Daniel Radcliffe, new dad Rupert Grint, Alfred Enoch, Jason Isaacs and many more. In fact, the only notable face not present was Emma Watson, but fans everywhere can just pretend that Hermione was off with her nose in some book.
Those tossed salads and scrambled eggs were calling again when the Frasier cast reunited not once, but twice for fans in 2020. In April, Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves and the rest of the cast did a special livestream reunion for YouTube series Stars in the House, with all benefits going to the Actors Fund. Then in October they got together again for a chat that included a look back at all their memorable seasons and paid tribute to late actor John Mahoney. Naturally, there were more than a few fans wiping tears away from their eyes.
Remember back when John Krasinski was blessing the world with Some Good News? In the inaugural episode of that surprising YouTube smash series the actor brought some of his famous co-stars—including Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, Mindy Kaling and Rainn Wilson—along to surprise a couple on their wedding day. It wasn’t The Office reunion that NBC keeps promising fans, but it was definitely enough to satiate Dunder Mifflin paper pushers for now.
Fans and the cast of this short-lived ABC sitcom got the Happy Endings they deserved when Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Adam Pally, Damon Wayans, Jr. and Casey Wilson met up (virtually) in character earlier this year. The scripted, 22-minute episode was a bid to raise funds for Color of Change and José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen supporting Black Lives Matter and COVID-19 relief efforts. The fact that Penny just happened to have one heck of a roller coaster wedding in the middle of it all was just icing on the cake.
Plenty of people are probably tired of the real-life political shenanigans going down in the States right now. Still, fans were more than ready to welcome back the cast of The West Wing for a special reunion in October, during which the core cast reprised their old roles for a staged performance. The crew recreated the iconic "Hartsfield's Landing" episode (available now on Crave) to plenty of critical acclaim, reminding everyone just how much more fun fictional politics are than real-life antics.
Who knew the Banks family was dealing with all of the same quarantining issues as the rest of the world? That was the entry point to this reunion, which featured the likes of Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Kieran Culkin, and Martin Short. The actors reprised their roles for a virtual wedding that was full of all kinds of surprises and guest stars, as well as a musical homage to the feel-good 1991 film and its 1995 follow-up.
