Drake, The Weeknd, and J. Cole are known around the world for their talents, each an established mogul amongst Hip-Hop's greatest, with respect to their industry success — but that’s not all they’re up to. Occasionally, they might take it upon themselves to make a fan’s dream come true, when it matters most. This week, a man named Michael Watson II posted a heart-wrenching tribute to his 11 year-old cousin, Elijah Williams. In the post, Watson explains that his cousin had been fighting a long battle with cancer and, before his recent passing, Elijah was able to FaceTime with 3 of his all-time favourite artists.
Posting a video montage of moments between Elijah and the artists, Watson writes, ”Over the past 3 years, my 11 y.o. cousin, Elijah, has battled cancer with the utmost resilience. Elijah's physical fight is now complete, as he transitioned to heaven on Friday. He didn't leave this world without knowing how much he was loved though. Last weekend, Elijah got to 'meet' 3 of his favorite artists—The Weeknd, J. Cole, & Drake. Incredibly grateful for these 3 super-humans being so caring for my family during this time. We’ll hold onto these moments forever..."[video_embed id='1931357']RELATED: Ryan Reynolds made a special online appearance at Toronto's Sick Kids hospital.[/video_embed]In the clip Elijah can be seen interacting with The Weeknd and J.Cole, with no shortage of tender soundbites (that definitely made us cry). When one of his family members told Elijah, “Look, it’s The Weeknd!” the young man answered back, “Whoa” before managing a lopsided grin. The boy's eyes also shoot open when he realizes J. Cole is on the line. The Grammy winning rapper tells Elijah, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, man”, and both stars expressed their gratitude for Elijah’s admiration of their work, before signing off the call with “I love you buddy”. Although his conversation with Drake isn’t shown in the video, his mother shared images of their private conversation. Watson went on to explain that sharing Elijah’s story with the world, this private moment of ‘love and light’, is a bittersweet silver lining for everyone.
