Good news! We no longer have to choose between Certified Lover Boy and Donda, because now we have Certified Donda Boys. That’s right, Drake and the artist formerly known as Kanye West, ‘Ye, have settled their differences with an epic hang at Drake’s Toronto home, and it looks like the party went late at Drake’s Bridle Path estate. Perhaps even, shall we say, to “7AM on the Bridle Path?” (bah dum CHING!)
Both artists, along with music exec J Prince, posted about the hang on their respective IGs, with ‘Ye posting a photo of the three amigos on Drake’s lavish property with a white dove emoji as the caption.
When J Prince posted about it, he wrote, “What a beautiful night I had last night in Canada. Let’s make history on December 9th. Free Larry Hoover Concert,” suggesting that Drake will join ‘Ye next month on stage at a concert to benefit Larry Hoover, the co-founder of the Gangster Disciples gang, who is currently in prison in Colorado.
Drake’s post was a little more detailed. Firstly, he captioned the post “You have reached your destination” with a red pin point, which seems to be an obvious reference to when Ye tried to doxx Drake by sharing a screencap of Drake’s Toronto address located in Google Maps on his IG stories. Glad the boys can laugh about it now!
Instead of posting the same pic as Ye and J Prince, Mr. Graham instead posted two video—one of which included Dave Chappelle. Chappelle has been in Toronto for a few nights for his comedy tour which made a stop at the Scotiabank Arena, and also for screenings of his Untitled documentary. It would appear that the “Jesus Walks” and “God’s Plan” rappers moved their hang to Dave’s afterparty, where Dave took the mic to praise Canada as a place that Black Americans once called “the finish line” of the underground railroad. The second video has Drake wrapping an arm around ‘Ye’s neck as they smile, laugh, and groove to the music. Is that CLB playing in the background and not Donda? Hmmmm.
It would seem that Drake was listening last week when ‘Ye posted a video with J Prince where he spoke directly to camera, asking Drake to put their beef aside.
"I'm making this video to address the ongoing back-and-forth between myself and Drake," he said, reading his prepared speech off his phone. "Both me and Drake have taken shots at each other and it's time to put it to rest."
He then asked Drake to perform alongside him at the Larry Hoover event, adding, “I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause but prove to people everywhere how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride to the side and come together."
The “Hotling Bling” and “Golddigger” rappers have been feuding and battling for years; just earlier this month, 'Ye was taking shots when he appeared on Revolt TV’s Drink Champs to accuse Drake of sleeping with ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
The tension between them reached an all-time high back in 2018 when ‘Ye released “Duppy Freestyle” featuring guest artist Pusha-T, who rapped a verse about Drake’s son Adonis. If you remember, at that time, no one knew Drake had a son and afterward he was forced to reveal the rumours were true.
The two started off as friends and colleagues, with ‘Ye directing Drake’s 2009 breakout single "Best I Ever Had," so we’re glad to see that finally they might get back to enjoying each other's company.
