Don't worry—98-year-old Betty White is safe in quarantine

Rest easy kids, national treasure Betty White is safe. The Emmy Award-winning star is taking the stay-at-home advisement seriously and is “only coming in contact with people being equally cautious of the virus.” White, who celebrated her 98th (yes, 98!) birthday this January, is taking the self-isolation protocol seriously and has quarantined herself in her Los Angeles home. According to TMZ, White is in “good health” and is “relaxing through her quarantine.” Of course she is; she’s Betty White.Concern arose over White’s health on Twitter when news broke that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson had both tested positive for COVID-19. After that, White’s representative told Today that “Betty is fine” and a collective sigh of relief could be heard for miles. But it’s not like we really had anything to worry about. She is, after all, the nonagenarian who isn’t afraid to snuggle grizzly bears.It turns out, Betty White just might outlive all of us. After being in showbiz for over 80 years, there’s not really much that will get her down. But that still doesn’t stop fans from worrying and we can’t blame them.The Golden Girls icon has had a career that’s lasted longer than any other entertainer. It began in 1939, a month after she graduated from Beverly Hills High School. Her first jobs were on local TV and radio in Los Angeles. Since then, she’s starred in everything from The Simpsons to The Golden Girls to The Mary Tyler Moore Show, the latter of which she won two Emmys for.

She also took home an Emmy for her role as Rose Nylund, a sweet and naive senior living with two other roommates and a cranky mom on the iconic Golden Girls. In 2010, she made history by becoming the oldest Saturday Night Live host at 88, which makes total sense because she’s both hilarious and will outlive everyone. Except for maybe the Queen. And yeah, she also won an Emmy for SNL, too.Last year, White lent her voice alongside Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in Toy Story 4, bringing life to Bitey White, the newest character to join the franchise.Needless to say, we’re glad she’s safe. Maybe during her quarantine, she can respond to her piles of fan mail. Wait, is fan mail still a thing?
