Let’s set the scene: you’re home in your sweats, have a glass of wine within reach, and a good book in hand. From where you’re nestled on the couch, a Christmas tree glows, and the sound of a piano fills the air. You look up, and there he is, Captain America in plain clothes, skillfully making his way through a number composed by Fabrizio Paterlini with a soft smile on his face. Life is good.

Well, this is basically what happened, but you know… the virtual version. Chris Evans took to Instagram to showcase some unexpected piano skills this week, while simultaneously capturing the hearts of fans everywhere (although we’re pretty sure he had already accomplished that). In his Instagram Story, he notes that he's "learning" one of his favourites by Fabrizio Paterlini, but TBH, he already seems pretty damn good at it.

Clearly, when he’s not playing the beloved Captain America within Marvel’s epic cinematic universe, he’s playing the piano. Correction: he’s playing the piano and shooting lingering glances into the camera of his iPhone.

To probably no one’s surprise, the internet more or less imploded in response to the impromptu talent show. Fans on Twitter have been having a field day with it, as one user notes that Mozart has been "real quiet" since Evans shared his abilities with the world.

And don’t for a second think that any of us failed to notice the way in which Evans repeatedly smirked and smouldered at the camera.

Honestly, Chris. You should have warned us this was coming. We were not prepared.

The composer himself even took to Twitter to acknowledge the Knives Out star’s tribute.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Evans has sent Twitter into a frenzy. Back in September, the actor accidentally uploaded a NSFW pic while attempting to post an Instagram video. Naturally, he quickly deleted the upload, but in ‘screenshots are forever’ fashion, the internet was not ready to let his mistake go unnoticed.

In a truly masterful pivot, Evans recovered from the incident with the following tweet:

And that is how you win the internet.
