Celebrities sliding down their staircases on carpets is a thing now

Bored? Consider yourself lucky. That probably means you’re among those who can stay home during this pandemic, physical distancing instead of continuing to work on the front lines of this fight (a big shout out and thank you to all of our essential service workers still punching the clock everyday). Drew Barrymore, however, is firmly in the former camp, at home and climbing the walls in boredom… or sliding the stairs, anyway.The actor followed in her pal Stella McCartney’s cabin-fevered footsteps recently, attempting a trick that, so far, only the famed fashion designer has been able to pull off successfully. Two days ago, McCartney donned a fabulous pair of goggles, wrapped herself in a carpet, and lunged down the stairs of her home at a high speed. She then posted video evidence of the athletic feat to Instagram.

Inspired by Stella, Barrymore also tested out her aptitude for the new athletic endeavour, though her execution was a little lacking.

Obviously not everyone can be a jock like Adidas collaborator and stair-sliding natural, McCartney. Barrymore is challenging talk show host and comedian Jimmy Fallon to be the next person to try their hand at this new sporting craze but Fallon has yet to summon the courage it takes to compete. We’re staying tuned.In the meantime, Drew is sharing her feelings about what it’s like to be living life under lockdown and it’s mega-relatable: “I don’t look like a beauty junkie representative, I probably look like every other person who really doesn’t know how to put one foot in front of the other right now, but we must,” she said in a video that is part blush application tutorial, part confessional. “Life is different and I have to embrace a new normal and that new normal is something I’m trying to figure out. That too takes time. But eventually, we need community, we need our coworkers and our friends.”
