Normally, birthdays are for cake, parties, and celebrating, but actor Antonio Banderas, who turned a young 60 years old today, August 10
th, is going to be taking it a little bit easier. He announced on his official social media channels, in Spanish, that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be spending his milestone catching up on some rest. The heartthrob, who made it big in Spain in a series of Pedro Almodovar movies before starring in Hollywood hits like
Desperado, The Mask of Zorro, Interview with the Vampire, and
Puss in Boots, posted a photograph of himself as a wee baby and accompanied it with a statement, which translates, in part, to, “I am forced to celebrate my 60th birthday following quarantine, having tested positive with Covid-19 disease.”
He continued, “I would like to add that I feel relatively well, just a little more tired than usual and confident that I will recover as soon as possible following the medical indications that I hope will allow me to overcome the infectious process that I suffer and that is affecting so many people around the planet.”
His message, which is full of positivity and even ends with a “big hug to everyone,” also states that he has some rather quiet plans for his birthday in isolation, including, “to read, write, rest and continue making plans to begin to give meaning to my 60th year to which I arrive full of enthusiasm.”
