Anna Camp wants her fans to wear their darned masks already. The Pitch Perfect star took to social media to remind people everywhere that the coronavirus is no joke, and that we all need to continue taking these warnings from health officials seriously. She is, after all, an example of why.“Hi friends... I felt it was my responsibility to share that I ended up getting COVID-19,” she revealed on Instagram. “I have since tested negative, but I was extremely sick for over three weeks and still have lingering symptoms. I was incredibly safe. I wore a mask. I used hand sanitizer. One time, when the world was starting to open up, I decided to forgo wearing my mask in public. One. Time. And I ended up getting it. I believe it may have been because of that one time.”

Hi friends... I felt it was my responsibility to share that I ended up getting Covid-19. I have since tested negative, but I was extremely sick for over three weeks and still have lingering symptoms. I was incredibly safe. I wore a mask. I used hand sanitizer. One time, when the world was starting to open up, I decided to forgo wearing my mask in public. One. Time. And I ended up getting it. I believe it may have been because of that one time. People are saying it’s like having the flu, but I’ve had the flu, and this is absolutely not that. The panic of contracting a virus that is basically untreatable and is so new that no one knows the long term irreparable damage it does to your immune system is unbelievably stressful. Completely losing my sense of smell and taste without knowing when or even if they will return is extremely disorienting. I’m only smelling about 30 percent of how I used to now. Other persistent symptoms are (a month later) dizziness, extreme fatigue, impacted sinuses, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, and fever. I’m lucky. Because I didn’t die. But people are. Please wear ur mask. It can happen any time. And it can happen to anyone. Even that one time you feel safe. We can all make a difference. Wearing a mask is saving lives. Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on me during this scary time. Please be safe out there. Let’s all do our part and wear a mask. I don’t want any of you to go through what I did. Even though it’s a little thing, it can have a huge impact, and it’s so incredibly easy to do❤️

While the science indicates that the most significant benefit to wearing a mask is protecting others from virus spread (40 per cent of COVID carriers are asymptomatic), it still does noticeably lower your risk of contracting it from someone else.Camp drove the point home by outlining exactly how awful her own coronavirus experience was. The 37-year-old, who recently starred alongside Bradley Whitford in the now-cancelled comedy series Perfect Harmony, shared the details under a picture of herself sporting a cute panda mask and shades. “People are saying it’s like having the flu, but I’ve had the flu, and this is absolutely not that,” she continued in her post. “The panic of contracting a virus that is basically untreatable and is so new that no one knows the long term irreparable damage it does to your immune system is unbelievably stressful.”She went on to reveal that some of her symptoms included losing her sense of smell and taste—a phenomenon that can linger indefinitely. “I’m only smelling about 30 percent of how I used to now,” she wrote. Other symptoms she’s still experiencing a month later include dizziness, extreme fatigue, impacted sinuses, an upset stomach, nausea, vomiting and fever.[video_embed id='1993091']RELATED: Why it's important to wear a face mask properly [/video_embed]“I’m lucky. Bryce Dallas Howard called it “a powerful reminder;” January Jones added “Oh how scary!! I’m praying you’re on the mend! And yes, a MASK!!!;” and Camp’s Pitch Perfect co-star Brittany Snow simply wrote, “Love you Campers.”Before contracting coronavirus, Camp was sharing her quarantine experiences with fans on social media, posting snaps with her new, Instagram-official boyfriend Michael Johnson as they sipped “quarantinis” or spent time together out in the desert. “In the middle of nowhere with no one I’d rather be with,” she wrote at the time of her drummer beau, whom she started dating after ending her marriage to Pitch Perfect co-star Skylar Astin last year.[video_embed id='1995417']BEFORE YOU GO: Banksy sends a message about wearing masks while in disguise on a subway [/video_embed]
