Amanda Bynes may be sober, engaged, and ready to break free of her conservatorship, but apparently her mom doesn’t think she’s up to the task of taking care of herself quite yet. At least, not after everything the former child star has been through recently. The 33-year-old took to social media over the weekend where she revealed she’s asked to see a judge to look into her conservatorship, apologizing for putting her “problems” on the internet but that this is what her life has come to.

Conservatorship

“Today I want to talk about a controversial topic: My conservatorship case,” she said in a February 21 video. “I have been going to a treatment center that charges $5,200 a month. There's no reason why I shouldn't go to a therapist who takes my insurance for $5,000 less a month. This is why I've asked to see the judge next week regarding this conservatorship issue.”Now Us Weekly reports that, according to an unnamed source, Bynes’ mom, Lynn Organ, has no problem with her daughter speaking to a judge. But she still feels that she needs to remain in a controlled environment, and she will make her case for why when the time comes.“Amanda’s mother doesn’t have any issue with her daughter requesting a hearing regarding the conservatorship,” the source told the publication. “Lynn feels Amanda isn’t in any capacity to make any decisions about her care or treatment. Lynn will request that Amanda remain in a controlled environment.”
Organ was given a conservatorship over Bynes and her $5 million estate back in 2014 after the actress was hospitalized on a psychiatric hold the year before. Behaviour leading up to that moment included Bynes setting a small fire in a driveway, driving- and drug-related arrests, and a slew of strange tweets in which she called various celebrities ugly. The conservatorship is scheduled to come up for review in August.Since then, Bynes has sought out treatment, been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and manic depression, has temporarily lived in a sober living facility, and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. She also met her fiancé, Paul Michael, in AA. They made their engagement (following three months of dating) Instagram official on Valentine’s Day and she’s been posting pictures with him ever since.

Lover

“Now I’ve remained sober for over a year — same with Paul — and I just want to let you know that I love you guys and I’m so happy now,” Bynes said in one post. “I feel like I got what’s mine, and that is Paul.”Under the laws of her conservatorship Bynes cannot legally wed without her guardians’ approval, and apparently her parents are not about to give their consent for that, either. “Amanda's parents are fully aware of her engagement and at this point are not approving Amanda to legally get married under the conservatorship,” a source told E! News.No word on whether that little issue will come up at the hearing as well, but it’s hard to imagine a whirlwind romance not factoring in. Either way, fans of the former actress are undoubtedly rooting for her to pull through in the safest and healthiest way possible.
