New report says Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson are engaged with Gwyneth Paltrow‘s blessing

Folks, we have ourselves a conscious coupling! A new report says that Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Madame Webb star Dakota Johnson are engaged to be married after dating for seven years.

An insider close to the couple has told British tabloid The Mirror that, “The couple got engaged a while ago and have kept the news private. But now they are being open about it with their circles.”

Speaking about the relationship between the 50 Shades of Grey star and the “Fix You” crooner, the insider told the outlet, “They have been besotted with each other from day one so taking this next step was inevitable.”

However, don’t expect the wedding bells to chime any time soon. “They are in no rush to plan the wedding but are just enjoying making their commitment official,” the source revealed. 

What’s more, Martin’s first wife, Oscar-winning actress and GOOP head honcho Gwyneth Paltrow is reportedly on board with the union and has given her blessing. However, requests for comment on the engagement from Martin, Johnson, and Paltrow by Page Six have gone unanswered.

Should this prove true, we can’t say we would be surprised, as Johnson and Paltrow have been rather chummy with each other for quite some time. “We’re actually very good friends,” the Shakespeare In Love star said back in October 2023 during an Instagram Q&A.“She’s an adorable, wonderful person,” she added, noting that she loves Johnson, “so much.”

Paltrow previously posted to her IG stories a photo of her holding hands with Johnson, but Johnson has also made an appearance on main, with Paltrow posting a pic of Johnson holding her pup with the caption, “Happy 30th birthday to this absolute gem 💙”

In addition, ex-husband Martin has often showed up on Paltrow’s main, with the exes definitely showing they’re still the best of friends despite their infamous “conscious uncoupling” in 2016.

Paltrow and Martin share children Moses, 17, and Apple, 19, and being their “stepmom” is something that Johnson recently gushed about in an interview with Bustle.

“I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart,” she told the outlet. In the same interview, she also explained how her relationship with her chosen family that includes Paltrow was “equally important, if not more” important than her blood relations, which include famous dad Don Johnson, Oscar-nominated mom Melanie Griffiths, and Hollywood legend grandmother Tippi Hedren.

While Paltrow has gone on to marry Brad Falchuk, Johnson says she would be open to having children, telling Bustle, ““I’ve gotten to this place where I really want to experience everything that life has to offer. And especially being a woman, I’m like, ‘What a magical f**king thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience.’ If that’s meant to happen for me, I’m totally down for it.”
