Yesterday when the 2024 Oscar nominations were announced, which includes nominees Sterling K. Brown and Danielle Brooks, Emmy-winning actress Niecy Nash couldn’t contain her pride. After giving a stirring speech at the Emmy’s this month where she chanted, “I wanna thank me!” the Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story star took to her official Instagram to reveal that it all runs in the family.

"Both of my COUSINS are OSCAR NOMINATED,” she wrote in the caption, including a picture of the three cousins together. “Yes! We are blood related! REAL cousins! I’m so proud of my fam! @thedaniellebrooks @sterlingkbrown I’m rooting for you!” Brown and Brooks are nominated for American Fiction and The Color Purple, respectively.

We don’t know about you, but we did not know they were cousins! It turns out there are lots of blood relations in Hollywood, some of which are just coming to light, and others that have been an open secret for years.

Brad Pitt and Barack Obama

During the 2009 campaign trail, it was revealed that former POTUS Barack Obama and Fight Club star and Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt are actually ninth cousins. The Guardian reports that they share a common ancestor from the 18th century in Virginia. Perhaps, had things turned out differently, Brad could have been POTUS and Obama could have been Benjamin Button….

Julia Roberts and Gloria Steinem

Earlier this month, the Pretty Woman graced the cover of British Vogue and talked about a recent appearance on Finding Your Roots where Dr. Henry Gates informed her that she is a DNA cousin to the famous feminist attorney and women’s movement advocate Gloria Steinem.

“And I just want everybody to know that,” she gushed.

But that’s not the only A list celeb that Gloria Steinem is related to….

Gloria Steinem and Christian Bale

In 2016, the ardent women’s rights advocate spoke with Daily Life and revealed that her late husband David Bale is actually the father of Batman Begins star Christian Bale, making her his step-mother. “He is a very good person, a great lover of animals and an immensely talented actor,” she said at the time. “He's married with two children and lives in California. I don't see him that often, but we're in touch from time to time.”

Austin Butler and Ashley Tisdale 

The two actors have been BFFs for a decade, but it was during an appearance on Ancestry’s 2 Lies & A Leaf series that she discovered the duo are actually 10th cousins once removed, per Page Six. “We’ve always said we were brother and sister! That is insane, I’m literally going to cry,” she exclaimed during the revelation. “I’m telling you when we first met, I was like ‘Oh my God.’ We were like brother and sister from the minute we met.”

She then texted him during the episode to share the news and he reportedly texted back, “No f***ing way!”

Madonna and Céline Dion

Canadian icon Céline Dion doesn’t get her showmanship and major pipes from just anywhere. Back in 2008, it was revealed after French Canadian lineage records went online that she is distantly related to the Queen of Pop, Madonna. The Material Girl has always famously proclaimed her Italian heritage, but what is less known is that her mother Madonna Fortin,  whom she is named after, was actually French Canadian, and the Fortin name has deep roots in Quebec. Metro reported that not only can the two songstresses trace their relations back to the 17th century, but they also share another famous cousin, Queen Consort Camilla!

Diana Ross and Ashlee Simpson

This is a relationship through marriage but to us, IT COUNTS. Singer Ashlee Simpson married Evan Ross in 2014, who is the son of legendary singer Diana Ross and sister to Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross.

Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt

This is another relationship via marriage, but we love it nonetheless. The pair, who starred alongside one another in The Devil Wears Prada, became close, so much so that Tucci was invited to Blunt’s wedding to John Krasinski. It was there that Tucci met Blunt’s sister Felicity, and sparks began to fly. Tucci and Felicity wed in 2011, per The Daily Mail.
