Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman In Me” has taken Hollywood by storm with her bombshell allegations of cheating, mistreatment, and pressure to terminate her pregnancy by ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. Now, the “Toxic” songstress has taken to her official Instagram to apologize for any hurt or offence caused.
“I wanna apologize for some of the things I wrote about in my book. If I offended any of the people I genuinely care about I am deeply sorry,” she wrote in the caption. She wrote this caption alongside a video of Justin performing his new song “Selfish” alongside Jimmy Fallon during a recent “Classroom Instruments” segment.
Could this apology come right now at this time because her die-hard Stans have rocketed her 2011 single “Selfish” to the top of the charts in an effort to usurp JT’s song from the charts? Could it also be because his so-called “comeback” is being tainted by her memoir’s revelations? Could it be that when she says she “genuinely cares” about people she offended, she’s suggesting she still loves JT? All of these questions are seemingly answered in a roundabout way by the remainder of her caption.
“I also wanted to say I am in love with Justin Timberlake’s new song ‘Selfish,’” she continued. “It is soo good and how come every time I see Justin and Jimmy together I laugh so hard ??? Ps ‘Sanctified’ is wow too.”
The “Womanizer” singer, who made her Instagram private earlier this year, had a banner 2023 when her memoir “The Woman In Me” became an instant bestseller. She wrote about her relationship with the “Cry Me A River” pop star but also with Colin Farrell, her ex-husband Kevin Federline, and her second husband Sam Asghari. She went into detail about the torture of her 13-year conservatorship and her fraught relationship with her family.
Forbes reported last year that Britney’s tell-all might have ruined JT’s supposed “comeback” and tainted his public image, something that Dakota Johnson poked fun at over the weekend when the pair both appeared on SNL.
This is perfectly depicted by how fans have been streaming her 2011 hit “Selfish” so much that it hit number one on the charts just one day after Justin’s new single “Selfish” was released.
Some social media users are suggesting her apology comes at a time when either his team, or JT himself, has reached out to her, asking her fans to chill out.
Other fans think this means that she has an incredible capacity to forgive and move on.
In either case, does anyone else think that now is the time for these two to release a duet? Because that is 20 years overdue!
