Everything we know so far about Shakira and Lewis Hamilton’s possible whirlwind romance

It’s been quite the year for “Hips Don’t Lie” songstress Shakira. Professionally, she’s won awards and topped the charts. The “Whenever, Wherever” singer was awarded Billboard’s first Woman of the Year award, and her viral hit with Bizarrap “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” has taken Latin music by storm, and even was a top ten hit on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Personally, it’s been a bit dramatic. After claims of cheating and deception, she left her husband, footballer Gerard Piqué after over a decade together and two kids. She left their home in Spain for Miami, but she’s definitely been leaning into her Woman of the Year title in terms of empowerment, and seeing who she wants.

Case in point, People is reporting that less than a year after her split from Piqué, she is dating, and not just any Joe-Schmo. It’s F1 racing star Lewis Hamilton. She attended the Spanish Grand Prix and the British racing legend, who came in second in the race, ended up spending some time with her. They were even photographed together, and if you look closely, you can see his hand is firmly around her waist.

A source close to the situation spoke to the outlet, and revealed, “They're spending time together and in the 'getting to know you' stage. It's fun and flirty."

But this wasn’t their first hangout apparently. The outlet reports that last month in Miami during the Grand Prix, they spent time together on a yacht with friends. Page Six obtained paparazzi photos of Lewis picking Shakira up via boat from her waterside estate that abuts the shoreline. She can be seen laughing and enjoying her time with him and friends.

Lewis has been famously single since 2015 after he split with his longtime girlfriend, Nicole Scherzinger from The Pussycat Dolls. So they’re both single and mingling, might this be something?

Let’s not forget how much dating speculation the “Underneath Your Clothes” singer has generated since dumping her ex-husband. Also while at the Miami Grand Prix, rumours abounded that she had actually set her sights on movie living legend Tom Cruise.

According to Page Six, the two celebrities quickly caught fans' attention after hanging out in a private suite during the sporting event. A TikTok user even captured the two chatting away as cars raced by.
 

When that rumour didn’t come to fruition however, Shakira’s dating life again became the stuff of gossip when fans believed there was something going on between her and Miami Heat star, Jimmy Butler. According to Essentially Sports, Shakira attended a playoff game, and though it ended in a loss for Butler's team, the NBA player scooped up a big win when Shakira started following him on Instagram. It's especially telling because she only follows 159 people! Butler followed her back, amping up the rumour mill. A few days later, he liked a video of Shakira singing her new song, "Acrostico." Things further heated up (see what we did there?) when Shakira publicly praised the Miami Heat for cruising past the Boston Celtics in Game 7. On Instagram Stories (via Essentially Sports), she wrote, "This is my acrostic for today: HEROIC, EXTRAORDINARY, AWESOME, TEAM."

Shakira definitely seems to have a type - athletes. Piqué, Butler, Hamilton… and we’ll even throw Cruise in there considering he is basically his own athletic stuntman. No word yet on where Lewis and Shakira stand - reps for either of them have declined to comment to media outlets - but nevertheless, if true, we love this for her.
