The 64th annual Grammy awards on Sunday night were something else, with tons of funny moments, unexpected moments, and moving, heartfelt moments. And many of those moments came courtesy of singer SZA and her trusty pair of crutches. Picture it: SZA and Doja Cat win “Best Pop Duo Performance.” SZA suddenly hobbles to her feet in her glamorous Jean Paul Gautier gown and mounts the stage with two crutches under her arm. Superstar Lady Gaga then smooths out and holds her train so the “Kiss Me More” crooner doesn’t trip. And then from the other side of the audience, we see Doja Cat sprinting to the stage, almost missing her big moment because she was in the toilet! The pair then gave a speech that made everyone at home sniffle.

But why was the “Good Days” songstress even on crutches to begin with? "It's very funny because I fell out of bed right before it was time to, like, leave and get ready for this, like the day before," she said afterwards to the press scrum, per PEOPLE. "But I definitely- that's the way it goes. Like everything awesome in my life has always come with something, like, very random but it just adds to the energy and I'm just grateful." Fans on social media of course have other theories as to why she needed crutches. Several fans took to Twitter to say it’s from the strain of having to carry R‘nB on her back for years. Honestly, where’s the lie?

She also revealed after winning the award that her new album is dropping pronto. “I just finished it up in Hawaii,” she told Variety’s reporter. “And it’s coming soon!” “I think it’s my most unisex album,” she later added. “I think it’s for everyone.”

Winning the Grammy award was also a bittersweet moment for SZA, telling reporters that she only wished her late grandmother could have seen her reach this milestone in her career. “The only thing that sucks is my granny isn't here; she passed before she could see me win it, but she did come the years I was nominated for the first time, and that's just all I've really been thinking about,” she said, via PEOPLE. “I wish my mom was here, I wish my granny was here and I'm just — I'm just grateful that she could see me from above and my parents can see now. I'm just grateful."

After her big moment, fans were quick to point out that she still wore her fierce AF high-heeled stilettos to the event despite the crutches. Were the crutches just an attention grab or is she just *that* committed to her couture? We have a feeling it’s the latter, but let the people speak:

But don’t worry, she has Lil Nas X to push her around as a personal care worker should she fall again. The “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” rapper even posted a video of him gleefully shuttling her around backstage. Guys, we’re gonna need you to collab ASAP.
