Sunday, the famed Piazza San Marco in Venice hosted Dolce & Gabbana’s "Alta Moda" show, a starstudded fashion show that paid homage to its 1600-year-old host city and to the youth and vivacity of the pieces on display.
The celebs in attendance were just as glittering as the couture, with Jennifer Lopez, Sean Combs (yes, the exes were in the same room and they were cool with each other!), Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Bebe Rexha, Normani, January Jones, Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Ciara, Monica Bellucci, Christian Bale, Dame Helen Mirren, Jennifer Hudson, Kitty Spencer and more gawking at the fine works presented by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
And the famous kids of those celebrities took centre stage, with Chance, Jessie James and D’Lila Star (Sean Combs' daughters), Deva (Monica Bellucci's daughter), Emmeline, (Christian Bale's daughter) and Leni (Heidi Klum's daughter) walking the catwalk and strutting their stuff.
Before the show began, the designing duo announced that this Alta Moda would be more youth-focused than previous iterations, “because everyone thinks couture is for the old, but that’s not how it has to be.”
Oscar-winning actress and the woman with the million-dollar voice, Jennifer Hudson appeared before the fashion show began and performed a dazzling rendition of “Nessum Dorma,” from Turandot in the famous square.
The show wasn’t without mishap though. Lightning and thunder clapped overhead and then an incredible rain fell on attendees and performers alike – something that Helen Mirren described as “dream” like and even added to her experience of being there. Also, check out that incredible frock!
But then again, if we danced with Vin Diesel in the rain, we wouldn't mind that it was raining either.
JLo dressed like the Doge of Venice herself in a stunning two-piece set with accompanying cape that could have been pulled straight from Cantarini’s court.
Doja Cat rocked a killer pair of shades to go with her couture.
Supermodel Heidi Klum posted a video on Instagram of her model daughter Leni walking the Alta Moda catwalk, working the space like (we assume) mama taught her. Of course, as soon as Leni spotted her famous mum in the audience, she broke into a big smile.
Deva Cassel, the supermodel daughter of Italian icon Monica Bellucci and French actor Vincent Cassel, also walked the catwalk and turned heads with her stunning stature.
Chance, daughter of Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, definitely understood the assignment when it came to serving looks even as the rain fell!
Christian Bale’s daughter Emmeline wore a unique illusion tulle corset dress embroidered with brooches, crystals, brocade, velvet, taffeta and hand-painted organza flowers.
Those runway looks were no joke, with Vogue reporting that the “dresses in georgette and tulle were embroidered to uncannily reproduce the kaleidoscopic patterns of Murano glass, or the serpentine patterns on the floor of St Mark’s.”
Mad Men’s January Jones looked pretty in pink in her layered gown.
Singer Bebe Rexha simply captioned her diamond-studded bustier dress and choker set with “Sex.” We would have to agree (peep the choker).
It looks like the afterparty was just as good as (if not better than) the show with a starstudded dinner followed by an epic dance party.
And what better way to cap it off than with a sleepover with the bestie a la Ciara and Vanessa Bryant?
