If you're not a fan of Brendan Fraser, then you are not a child of the '90s (kindly show yourself out). That said, when it comes to having fans, the former Mummy star is heartbreakingly shocked he has any at all.

During a recent meet-and-greet with the actor, hosted by TikTok user @LittleLottieCosplay, he discussed his excitement for his newest project, Martin Scorsese's highly anticipated film Killers of the Flower Moon, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, John Lithgow and Jesse Plemons. No little thing.

“I’m going to work with Scorsese and Leo and Bob De Niro,” he said, joyously. He then added, “I think I might be sick, I’m a little anxious." And frankly, you can feel the nerves through the screen. Who can blame him!

Fortunately, the host let him know that he's "got this," adding, “The internet is so behind you! We’re so supportive. There are so many people out there who love you, and we’re rooting for you, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.”

In an instant, Fraser looks visibly overcome by the sentiment, even tearful. It's honestly tear-inducing for us all.

“Shucks ma’am,” he finally responds, with a cute tip of his cowboy hat.

And the thing is, it's true, and he should know it. In the '90s, he was a major commercial comedy star, not only with The Mummy franchise, but George of the Jungle, Blast from the Past, and the (personally highly recommended) Bedazzled. His reputation wasn't so much about the box office, but for being a loveable himbo who had a knack for choosing kinda odd but cult classic films. It was an era-specific thing, ya had to be there.

For the next decade or so, Fraser's star took a bit of a dip as he flitted between the occasional drama, comedy and stage play. However, in recent years, he's been experiencing what one might call a Fraseraissance (or Brenaissance, take your pick, the internet has yet to decide), with the most impressive roles of his career, in The Affair, Trust, Condor, Doom Patrol, and Steven Soderbergh's No Sudden Move. Now, he not only has a Scorsese film in the works, but will also be starring in Darren Aronofsky's upcoming film The Whale.

Needless to say, Fraser is having a moment. And it's come at a particularly good time. In 2018, during #MeToo, he was one of the few male stars to come forward and reveal that he had been a victim of sexual assault, allegedly by former Hollywood Foreign Press president Philip Berk, who groped him at an HFPA luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel in 2003.

Fraser told GQ at the time, “I felt ill. I felt like a little kid. I felt like there was a ball in my throat. I thought I was going to cry. I felt like someone had thrown invisible paint on me." Berk, of course, told the magazine that it was "a total fabrication," though he did pen an apology to Fraser at the time of the incident.

Afterward, Fraser wondered if he had been blacklisted by the HFPA and Hollywood for what had transpired, as the silence that followed was "deafening." A few years later, Fraser and his wife Afton Smith would divorce, and just a few short years after that, his mother died, leading him into a deep depression that he believes contributed to his career's decline.

But now, in better health and with that same fanbase behind him, Fraser is onto better things and the accolades he's long deserved. You go, Brendan.
