Long-time lovebirds Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton FINALLY got married over the weekend in an intimate ceremony, but now we’re getting more details on what the private affair looked like. Specifically, we need to see the dress!
Luckily, Gwen has posted some much-needed pics on her Instagram and we are getting our first glimpse at what iconic fashion designer Vera Wang put together for the big day.
Turns out she included heartfelt tributes to her three sons, Kingston, 15, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 7 (who she shares with ex-Gavin Rossdale), on the veil of her first gown. That ceremony gown was fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice and a tumbled tulle skirt. The names, alongside hers and Blake’s, were sewn in gothic font, just like the one used on her Love. Angel. Music. Baby. album cover.
Of course, Gwen also had a Vera Wang reception dress, and the designer really went all out with the second gown too. According to People, a pair of hand-sewn love birds symbolizing the couple was embroidered around the waist and onto the skirt of the tulle strapless mini.
Three baby love birds representing Gwen’s sons were also on the ensemble. We told ya they were lovebirds!
Gwen also posted this adorable boomerang video of her flipping her veil. Yes, Vera Wang definitely understood the assignment.
The rock-country couple, who have collaborated on hit songs like "Happy Anywhere," "Nobody but You," and "You Make Me Feel Like Christmas," started dating in 2015 after meeting as coaches on The Voice. Blake had just filed for divorce from his second wife, Miranda Lambert, and Gwen had announced her split from her husband of 13 years, Rossdale.
They got engaged last October, announcing the happy news on Instagram, but due to the pandemic, Gwen said she was settling in for a very long engagement.
“It was kind of in my mind like, ‘We’ve been together a long time now. What’s going on?’ I was in that place in my head,” she told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show at the time, adding that when Blake popped the question, “We both start bawling. Everyone was in shock.”
This isn’t the first time Gwen wore a white Vera Wang dress – back in 2019 she wore a custom gown from the iconic designer when she accepted the 2019 Fashion Icon award at the E! People’s Choice Awards.
“I used to hate fashion. I used to feel like, 'That's for the rich people, I'm just going to go to the thrift store and make my own thing,' and that's what I did my whole life and now here I am with this award."
She of course ended her speech with a shout-out to her beloved, "I love you, Blake Shelton, you're a babe."
Gwen, come on, you’re both babes.
