Gwyneth Paltrow says eating bread was a quarantine low and people have thoughts

For the woman who starred in Contagion, the 2011 movie that basically predicted how the current COVID-19 global pandemic might play out, you would think Gwyneth Paltrow would have a grasp of pandemic “low points.” Isolation, quarantine, collapsing economies, unemployment, and death have been the low-point for millions of people around the globe during the pandemic. Not for our Goop mogul Gwyneth though, her low point was *checks notes* eating bread.
Yes, it’s all true, as she recounted during an interview on the Smartless podcast. “I drank alcohol during quarantine,” she said. “I was drinking seven nights a week and making pasta and eating bread. I went totally off the rails.”
But that’s not all. She told podcast hosts, actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, & Will Arnett all about her shame of going “off the rails.”
“I mean, who drinks multiple drinks seven nights a week? Like that’s not healthy. I love whiskey and I make this fantastic drink called the Buster Paltrow, which I named after my grandfather who loved whiskey sours. And it’s this great quinoa whiskey from this distillery in Tennessee with maple syrup and lemon juice. It’s just heaven. I would have two of those every night of quarantine.”
Quite understandably, Twitter is having a field day with the Iron Man actress, poking fun at how unrelatable and out of touch she seems with everyday people suffering through this pandemic.
When The Guardian US tweeted out the headline, “Gwyneth Paltrow broke down and ate bread during quarantine. What was your lowest point?” the roasting came a-flooding in. Spare a thought for The Guardian’s social media manager. RIP their mentions.
Look Gwyneth, we’re not saying anything, but when even your own daughter Apple loves to roast you, maybe it’s time to hit the pause button for a think. Food for thought!
Speaking of food, TO THE BAKERY!
