Ben Affleck is taking over the headlines this week, from his recent ghosting on the celeb-exclusive dating app Raya to his hangouts — yes, plural— with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.
The Jersey Girl co-stars have apparently been spending time together in Los Angeles over the last week. Affleck was spotted getting picked up and dropped off by a white Escalade SUV that reportedly belongs to JLo and the SUV has been taking him to and from her mansion.
Page Six even reported that while the two haven’t been spotted out together ~yet,~ Affleck has visited Lopez at least three times since she returned from filming her upcoming romantic-comedy, Shotgun Wedding, in the Dominican Republic.
A source recently told People that the former couple, known as Bennifer, remain the “friendliest of exes 17 years after their split.”
"They have a great time hanging out," said the source. "It's been years since they caught up properly. They have lots to talk about."
Since the two actors are currently in Los Angeles, the source added that they “plan on hanging out again.”
A source gave Page Six details about how the Bennifer hangouts go down. “Security picks him up at a nearby location and drops him off after spending a few hours at her house,” they said.
Affleck and JLo’s hangouts began after the two stars have both had pretty recent break-ups with their significant others.
Lopez and Alex Rodriguez released a joint statement announcing the end of their engagement after four years together in April. Affleck and his former girlfriend Ana de Armas ended their relationship in late January after quarantining together amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Sources insist that their relationship is strictly platonic, but fans are kinda, sorta hoping that we can bring Bennifer back to life.
There is hope for the Bennifer stans everywhere! “They have spent time together in L.A. over the past week,” sources told People. “They have a lot of love for each other. They have always admired each other.”
A second source told the outlet that JLo and Affleck are just friends. “They are friends. They have always been friends and they have seen each other through the years.”
JLo and Affleck first met on the set of their film Gigli and got engaged in November 2002, shortly after Lopez filed for divorce from her second husband, Cris Judd. Days before their wedding in 2003, the couple postponed the event and blamed it on "excessive media attention," before calling it quits in January 2004.
In April, Affleck gushed about JLo's hustle for her May cover story of InStyle Magazine.
He said that he was “completely humbled and blown away by” what his Gigli co-star was “committed to doing day in and day out, the seriousness in which she took her work, the quiet and dedicated way she went about accomplishing her goals, and then how she would go back and redouble her efforts.”
Affleck said that JLo “remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I’ve come across in this business.” He said that she has “great talent” and has “worked very hard for her success.”
“I’m so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves,” he added.
Affleck also asked where Lopez is “keeping the fountain of youth.” He continued, “Why do you look the same as you did in 2003 and it kind of looks like I’m in my 40s…at best?”
Well, JLo’s secret is JLo Beauty, duh! “I don’t have any [beauty] secrets except JLo Beauty — and I’m giving them all to everyone with every product. Ben is funny! He still looks pretty good too,” she responded.
