Elliot Page is pure joy in his latest Instagram photo. The 34-year-old actor shared a shirtless snap poolside with his followers over the weekend, officially marking the beginning of summer.

The photo also happens to be the first shirtless pic that Page has shared since coming out as transgender, and the first since he underwent top surgery (a procedure that involves removing the breast tissue) earlier this year.

“Trans bb's first swim trunks,” Page captioned the post, which has been liked more than 1.6 million times. Probably because in addition to rocking those aforementioned trunks, Page is all smiles and beaming harder than that hot summer sun.

Page first revealed that he had undergone top surgery in an interview with Oprah Winfrey last month. In the sit-down, Winfrey had asked him what brings him the most joy ever since coming out as transgender at the end of 2020, when he introduced Elliot Page to the world. The Oscar-nominated actor noted it’s the little things.

“It's, you know, getting out of the shower and the towel is around your waist, and you're looking at yourself in the mirror and you're just like 'There I am,'” he said. “And I'm not having the moment where I'm panicked... It's being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body probably for the first time.”

If there’s one thing Page’s latest photo radiates, it’s that joy. So it’s no wonder the post quickly went viral over the long weekend, trending on Twitter on Monday night.

Page continues to inspire fans and followers in 2021. In addition to this latest gem and the Winfrey interview, Page became the first transgender man to ever appear on the cover of Time Magazine in March. During that interview, author Katy Steinmetz asked Page how he was feeling.

“This feeling of true excitement and deep gratitude to have made it to this point in my life,” he responded, “mixed with a lot of fear and anxiety.” Later, in explaining the responsibility he felt in speaking his truth to the world, he was equally candid.

“Extremely influential people are spreading these myths and damaging rhetoric—every day you’re seeing our existence debated,” he added. “Transgender people are so very real.”
