In this week's unlikeliest of friendships, we have Cardi B and Olivia Rodrigo. Yes, you read that right. The pair have struck up a cute bond on Twitter – where else? – over a love for each other's music. What could be more pure?

It all started in January, when Cardi, hilarious as ever, tweeted,  "Just like that girl wrote a song about getting her drivers license Imma write a song about the struggle of not having a drivers license. I really wanted my McDonald’s at 4am last night instead of today but I couldn’t so I felt asleep hungry."

That, of course, was in reference to Rodrigo's record-breaking hit song "drivers license." The young singer replied, "girl i will pick u up and take u wherever u wanna go," to which Cardi said, "Yaaayyy !!! Let’s go to McDonald’s and get happy meals !"

Hey, is there room for us?

Rodrigo expanded on her love for the rapper this week, saying, "I'm so in love with her, I want to marry her" in a new Apple Music interview.

She then raved about "Get Up 10," off Cardi's Grammy-winning album Invasion of Privacy, saying, "One of the lyrics is like, 'Real bitch, only thing fake is boobs.' And I was like, 'Yes, that's the energy.' I'm obsessed with her. I love Invasion of Privacy."

"I feel lucky to be a teenager at the time when Cardi is making music," she added. "Just even as a songwriter, some of the stuff that she says is just so honest and almost like shockingly honest. When I listened to her song, I'm like, 'Oh wow, she really just said that on a recorded album.'"

"Those are my favourite artists who say stuff that other people are scared to say. I think she does that so well," Olivia continued. "That's definitely something that I sort of grapple with in my songwriting. I'm making a lot of music right now to put it out, and I listen to it back and I'm terrified sometimes. I'm like, 'Oh my god. I literally am writing about stuff that I don't tell some of my closest friends, and I'm going to put out for the whole world to scrutinize and talk about.'"

"It's a really horrible, terrifying thing," Rodrigo said, but Cardi's music has helped. "She gives me courage to sort of say whatever I want to say and be honest in telling my story."

On Wednesday, Cardi shared a link to the interview on Twitter, writing, "This is so sweet. You doing sooo good for your age. Don’t let no toxic sh-t get to you and don’t let nobody restrict you from your voice."

Cardi's all about bringing up the next generation of music and she's definitely onto something with Rodrigo (hello, "drivers license" spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100). Plus, Olivia's debut album, Sour, is out May 21.
