Megan Thee Stallion pulled a “Savage” move on fans this week by announcing she’s taking some time off to recharge… and this just a month after promising fans at the Grammys in March that “Hot Girl Summer Part 2” is on the way.

The “WAP” rapper took to Instagram on April 22 to make the big announcement in a series of posts. In the first, she shared a stylized shot of herself attached to a ventilator with futuristic vibes that give off the feel of an album cover. In the next, she shared a video in which she’s attached to that same ventilator and in a water tank at some sort of lab. She’s also wearing a bodysuit that looks like newspaper, with the words “Stallion” and “Good news” visible. And then in the third post, she shared a video that zooms into the computer that’s attached to the tank, where a message appears on the screen.

“Megan Thee Stallion is recharging!” it reads. “Due to the demands of the Hot Girl lifestyle <Meg> has now entered a period of regeneration to prepare for what’s next. In her absence; mgmt will manage all social posting on behalf of Thee Hot Girl Coach. [[Thee Hotties]] lead a brave //RESISTANCE in anticipation for the return of their Fearless Captain!”

Recharging for what, exactly? Well that’s what fans have been trying to figure out ever since Meg shared her news. Some of them speculated these posts are the beginning of the promotion for an upcoming album, while others just shared their love over her method of updating fans. Even Meg’s celeb friends were impressed with her commitment to the art. “Love this,” Chloe Bailey wrote. “I have my hot girl boots laced up, I’ll be waiting on you,” added model Jerrika Karlae.

In the meantime if anyone deserves a chance to recharge, it’s got to be Meg. She’s been through a lot in the past year, most notably last summer when she was shot in the foot (Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has since been charged with the shooting). And on a more positive note, she and Cardi B basically broke the internet with the release of “WAP” in August. Since then Meg has been signing up to perform at various festivals, fanning the flames of her hot new relationship with rapper Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine, and updating fans on Instagram.

Meg is also coming off three wins at the recent Grammy Awards. She took home Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Savage (Remix)” with Beyoncé (which is no wonder considering the song basically took over TikTok in 2020), as well as Best New Artist—an award that went to Billie Eilish in 2020. At the most recent awards, Eilish beat out Stallion for Record of the Year, an award that Eilish later revealed Stallion should have actually won.

“I don’t want to cry but first of all I wanna say everybody is amazing,” Meg said in her acceptance speech for Best New Artist. “Every artist that was nominated for this award is so amazing. So, shout out to all of y’all… I really wanna say thank you to my momma,” she continued. “She’s not here with me today, but I know she’s here with me in spirit and she always believed I could do it.”

Here’s hoping Meg uses up every last minute of her time off for a bit of self-care and a true recharge. After all, summer is only a few months away and fans everywhere are already prepping to celebrate their own hot girl summer alongside her.
