Screenwriter and director Aaron Sorkin, 59, made a splash last night on the Oscars red carpet (stream the full show now on CTV) with his date, Czech supermodel Paulina Porizkova, 56.

Of course, they looked radiant together and her dress was just luminous. This wasn't just about killer good looks though. This appearance was a big deal because 1) Sorkin was nominated for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for the incredible The Trial of the Chicago 7 and 2) they used the red carpet to make their relationship public for the first time.

We did kinda know they were secretly canoodling, however. Page Six reported earlier this week that the pair was “quietly seeing each other for a few months,” so it’s not a total shock, but there had been no confirmation from either camp up until they showed up hand in hand at the LA Union Station ceremony.

This is the first confirmed relationship for Paulina since the tragic passing of her husband; rocker Ric Ocasek, in 2019. They had been married for 28 years, first meeting when she appeared in the music video “Drive” for his band Cars, but had split in 2018. They still lived together at the time of his passing at the age of 75. They have two children together, though Porizkova was written out of her late husband's will.

Since his death, Paulina has spoken a lot about sex and relationships in her 50s. She even penned an essay for Yahoo, writing, “What I have found is that sex gets better with age, which is something that I was kind of terrified about for a while because I kept hearing all these horror stories about how you go through menopause and then you lose your sex drive and you don't want to have sex anymore."

"I had been wandering the desert for a little while and I was really afraid that somehow that part of my life was going to disappear or go away or was no longer something that I got to do. And it turns out that it only gets better because I know my body so much better."

"Whatever confidence and wisdom that you acquire with age, it's kind of paying off in your 50s. Now I take my pleasure where I know that I had it or where I can. I'm not there to please the guy; I'm there to be pleased,” she wrote.

(She also recently posted about a chair that helps strengthen her pelvic floor -- if you're in the market.)

Forget A Few Good Men, how about A Few Good Chairs

While she hasn’t posted publicly about The West Wing scribe, she also mentioned in her Yahoo essay that she is attracted to talent in men.

“Talent to me is really sexy. One thing that I’ve recognized now, after going out on dates with some men who have normal jobs and are wonderful guys, is that I find talent sexy — and talented men are generally way more complicated than non-talented ones.”

Sorkin definitely has talent in spades. On top of The Trial of the Chicago 7 receiving five Oscar noms this year, he was also nominated for Molly’s Game in 2018, Moneyball in 2012, and won for The Social Network in 2011. He has also famously written some of the best movies of the past 30 years, including A Few Good Men, Charlie Wilson’s War, Steve Jobs, The American President, and TV shows like The West Wing, and The Newsroom
