The theft of Lady Gaga's two dogs has been a week-long saga, but now, her dog walker Ryan Fischer, who was shot as the pups were stolen, has finally shared his thoughts on the frightening night.
The 39-year-old, who has been a friend of Gaga's family for some time, was taken to the ICU after the incident last Wednesday. He had been taking Gaga's French bulldogs Gustav, Koji and Miss Asia for a walk in West Hollywood when he was attacked. Miss Asia was able to escape the hound heist, while the other two have since been found.
In an emotional post on Instagram on Monday, he wrote, “4 days ago, while a car sped away and blood poured from my gun shot wound, an angel trotted over and laid next to me. My panicked screams calmed as I looked at her, even though it registered that the blood pooling around her tiny body was my own."
Here, he references Miss Asia, Gaga's third dog.
Fischer continued, “I cradled Asia as best I could, thanked her for all the incredible adventures we’d been on together, apologized that I couldn’t defend her brothers, and then resolved that I would still try to save them...and myself. Hopeful that my calm(ish) and forceful pleas for the urgency of my care as well as the focused descriptions of the dogs would be enough to help me and get enough police and media attention to find the boys, I looked backed at my guardian angel. I smiled at her shaking form, thankful that at least she would be okay.”
He went on to say that he is still in recovery "from a very close call with death," thanking the many who have been sending him well wishes.
To Gaga specifically, Fischer said, "Your babies are back and the family is whole...we did it! You have shown so much support throughout this whole crisis to both me and my family. But your support as a friend, despite your own traumatic loss from your kids, was unwavering. I love you and thank you. ... A lot of healing still needs to happen, but I look forward to the future and the moment when I get bombarded with kisses and licks (and maybe even an excitement pee?) from Asia, Koji, and Gustav."
A woman turned Gustav and Koji into a Los Angeles police station on Friday, claiming she found them tied to a pole in an alley and recognized them from media reports, according to TMZ.
Gaga said she will "gladly" pay the woman the $500,000 reward she promised for the return of the dogs since they went missing.
Meanwhile, the police remain on the hunt for the puppy pilferers.
