Armie Hammer accuser Effie shares details of alleged 4-hour sexual assault

Another woman has come forward with allegations against actor Armie Hammer. In a press conference on Thursday afternoon, 24-year-old Effie, who lives in Europe, shared the details of her relationship with Hammer, which began in 2016.

Lawyer Gloria Allred said that Effie had an intimate relationship with Hammer on and off between 2016 to 2020. She said that they sent each other numerous text messages and other electronic communications. 

Allred said that Effie and Hammer were together and intimate “numerous times.” She continued, “It is important to emphasize that even if a sexual partner agrees to certain sexual activity, she still has the right at any point to withdraw her consent. If she does withdraw her consent and asks her partner to stop for any reason, he is legally and morally obligated to stop. If he does not stop, he is then at risk of committing a crime against her.”

Effie said she met Hammer on Facebook in 2016 when she was 20 years old and she “fell in love with him instantly.” 

“The relationship progressed rapidly, and the emotions from both sides became really intense. Looking back, it is now clear to me. He employing manipulation tactics in order to exert control over me, until I started to lose myself,” she said as she broke down in tears.

Effie said that Hammer would test her devotion and cross her boundaries “as he became increasingly more violent.”

She alleged that the actor abused her “mentally, emotionally and sexually.”

While speaking to the press, Effie said Hammer sexually assaulted her on April 24, 2017, in Los Angeles.

“On April 24, 2017, Armie Hammer raped me for over four hours in Los Angeles, during which he repeatedly slammed my head against a wall. He also committed other acts of violence against me to which I did not consent. For example, he beat my feet with a crop so they would hurt whatever step I took for the next week,” she said.

“During those four hours, I tried to get away, but he wouldn’t let me. I thought he was going to kill me. He left with no concern for my well-being. I was completely in shock and I couldn’t believe someone I loved could do that to me,” Effie added.

She said that she tried hard to justify his actions, but she has lived in fear since the attack. Effie added that Hammer no longer has power over her but his abuse traumatized her to the point where she couldn’t sleep for months or she’d have night terrors about the alleged attack.

“Over the years since the assault, on many occasions, the invasive flashbacks were so excruciating that they made me feel there was no way out but to take my own life. I just wanted the pain to stop,” Effie told the press.

She said she’s speaking out now with the hope that Hammer will be held accountable for his actions.

“My hope in speaking out about the abuse endured at the hands of Armie Hammer is that he will be held accountable. I feel immense guilt for not speaking out sooner because I feel that I might have been able to save others from becoming victims,” Effie explained. “Speaking out today, I hope to prevent others from falling victim to him in the future. I want other survivors of sexual assaults around the world to feel empowered and know that they are heard, believed, understood and loved.”

Allred said that Effie has provided what she thinks might be relevant to the LAPD and the prosecutor to decide if there is sufficient evidence to pursue charges against Hammer. Effie and Allred currently have no plans to file a lawsuit against the actor. Allred also said that it’s up to the LAPD to reveal if they have opened an investigation.

Allred said that the alleged attack did not take place at a hotel and that there are photos of her visible injuries.

When asked if Effie is behind the House of Effie social media account that first surfaced claims against Hammer, Allred said “no comment.”

Allred was asked if Hammer discussed his marriage to Elizabeth Chambers with Effie during their time together. “I will leave that to Armie Hammer to answer if he wishes to answer that question,” she responded. “I will just say that I know that Effie’s heart goes out to Elizabeth Chambers.”

"We do think it is important that an investigation of these serious allegations is conducted. We look forward to learning if Mr. Hammer, rather than his representatives, will be willing to assist investigators in their search for the truth," Allred added in her statement. "I challenge Armie Hammer to present all, not some, of his communications with Effie to the Los Angeles Police Department and answer all of their questions directly rather than through his lawyers."
