Priyanka Chopra Jonas opened up about her life in her memoir, Unfinished, and it's full of details about the racist bullying she experienced while attending high school in America, her parent's life and of course, her love life with husband Nick Jonas. She said that she's always wanted to write, but now that the candid book is published, it's freaking her out.

Talking with etalk's Sonia Beeksma, Priyanka said that she "spent such a long time furiously protecting" her privacy but now that's all changed since the book is out there for everyone to read.

"Here I am talking about all the things that scared me. There’s a part of me that’s nervous, and there’s a part of me that’s proud that I actually did the work, and I dug in deep,” she said.  Priyanka said that now she can look back and pat her younger self on the back and say, “You know what? You did OK.”

The Sky is Pink actress hit back at those who think she might be "too young" to write a memoir. "Why are we putting that glass ceiling? Memoirs should be written by anybody who wants to think about their lives. Why does it have to be at a point in your life when — I don't even know who decides that?"

Perhaps Priyanka is just taking a page out of her Hollywood idol's (literal) book. Chopra lauds writer-actress-producer-etc. Mindy Kaling as a huge role model. It's probably no coincidence that Mindy has released, not one, not two, but THREE of her own memoir-type books of essays.

“She’s a phenomenal writer. She’s hysterical, funny, clever and all those good things," she said of Kaling. "Second of all, she was one of those South Asian writer/actors in Hollywood that had the courage to just say, ‘You know what? You’re not going to write me a part where I’m the lead? I’m going to write a damn show about it.’ And she did, and I think that is extremely courageous, and I love the fact that she’s a girl who took the bull by the horns and said I’m going to create my own opportunity.”

She added that was one reason why she called Mindy to ask if she wanted to do a movie together. “And here we are doing a buddy comedy for Universal Pictures, and she’s writing it, and Dan Gore, who wrote Brooklyn Nine-Nine, he’s writing it as well. We should be doing that probably at the end of the year,” she revealed. Sign us up for this movie ASAP.

As much as she loves the hustle, Priyanka shared she really enjoyed taking a break last year and getting cozy with husband Nick Jonas. “I haven’t been home for six months, Sonia, at least, in 25 years. I don’t think I’ve been in one place for six months, so it was a blessing, honestly, to be able to have that, to move into our new house, to have that time with my husband, my dogs and just get a breather,” she said.

Priyanka also revealed that Nick was one of the first people to read Unfinished.

“There’s a whole chapter about him, so he better have read it,” she joked, adding, “The one thing he said, which surprised me, was how surprised he was to get to know me a little bit more. It’s the same thing my mom said and the same thing a lot of my closest friends said. They found facets in the book that they probably didn’t think I had or didn’t know I’d gone through.”

She said it made her realize that she had never really exposed herself entirely to anyone. “This book became so cathartic because it was just me and my words and my thoughts. There’s no one in between, and it turned it to be healing almost.”

The legend of Priyanka and Nick's relationship is well known -- they arrived at the 2017 Met Gala together, were engaged by August 2018 and married by December of the same year -- so Chopra probably has some decent advice for finding "the one."

“When you’re kind of swept off your feet and don’t have control of the situation and yet trust where you’re going, that’s when you know,” she said of how you know you've met the right person. “I’m so used to having a sense of control and holding onto every aspect of my life, but here I was just going along on this wave. I kind of trusted it, and I just knew.” We *clap* have *clap* chills!

Priyanka's breather didn't last long, however. Apart from releasing The White Tiger earlier this year and already creating (and launching) her new sustainable haircare brand Anomaly, she's also filming two movies. “I went back to work in October. I finished filming The Matrix 4. Then I went on to doing a romantic comedy, which I’m very excited about, with Sam Heughan and Céline Dion."

Priyanka had a fan girl moment over working alongside Canadian legend Céline Dion. "It’s her acting debut, which is amazing. I love the fact that I’ll be able to say that for the rest of my life, that I was in Céline Dion’s first movie."
