Congratulations are in order because Princess Eugenie, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth, has given birth to a baby boy. The news was confirmed by Buckingham Palace and announced on social media Tuesday afternoon.
Eugenie also shared her own black-and-white photo on Instagram, showing the first photo of the baby boy’s finger, intertwined with her own and her husband, Jack Brooksbank’s finger. The photo’s caption included three blue hearts.
Eugenie, 30, welcomed the baby boy on Tuesday, weighing 8 lbs., 1 oz. Her son is the ninth great-grandchild of the Queen and Prince Philip. He is the first grandchild for her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, February 9 2021, at 8: 55 a.m. at The Portland Hospital,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement. “Jack Brooksbank was present.”
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of York, Sarah, Duchess of York, and Mr. and Mrs. George Brooksbank have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the statement continued. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”
The Portland Hospital in London is a very special place for the Royal Family. Eugenie was born there, as well as her sister, Princess Beatrice. Meghan Markle also gave birth to Archie in the same hospital.
Eugenie shared the exciting news about her pregnancy on Instagram on September 25, with the cutest pair of slippers. “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021…” she captioned the photo.
Eugenie and Jack, who married at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in October 2018, have not revealed their son’s name as of this writing. The couple reportedly moved into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor ahead of the birth of their son. The Frogmore Cottage was Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's home while they were senior members of the Royal Family.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
