Whitney Port opens up about miscarriage in emotional post

Warning: the following may be triggering for some readers as it discusses pregnancy loss.
Whitney Port has revealed that she’s suffered a second miscarriage. The former Hills star, fashion designer, podcast host and TV personality opened up about her pregnancy loss this week in an emotional Instagram post.
Port shared the devastating news with her followers on January 4 and said that she and husband Tim Rosenman, who are parents to three-year-old Sonny, were unsure at first whether they would share the news of Port’s miscarriage.
“We decided to start vlogging for our YouTube channel a couple months ago to share two stories: Renovating a new house and a new pregnancy journey. Sadly, I lost the pregnancy. Timmy and I weren't sure if we still wanted to put this out there,” wrote Port, who referenced a previous miscarriage she suffered in 2019. “I wasn't sure I wanted to relive the pain. However, this time around, I felt differently about the situation. Last time, I don't think I was ready to have another child, and I had different feelings about the miscarriage. This time, I really connected. I was actually excited and enjoying the pregnancy. I envisioned it all. I’m sad but I’m ok and we will try again.”
Port also added a heartfelt message to those who have experienced pregnancy loss. “I also have so much sadness in my heart for anyone that has to go through this or has gone through this. I know though that our community will share, band together and support- cause you always do.”
Port’s message, which was posted with an image of palm trees swaying in the wind, has already received an outpouring of support. Port’s former Hills co-star Lauren Conrad wrote, “I’m sorry Whit. Sending you guys love.” Ashley Wahler, who is married to Port and Conrad’s former co-star Jason Wahler, also left a message of support, writing “I’m so sorry! Sending so much love your way.”
Port ended her message by confirming that she and Rosenman have decided to release their vlogs about her pregnancy and their house renovations. The couple uploaded their first episode on January 4, which includes footage of the pair touring their new home and Port talking about her relief over finding out that she is pregnant. “I’m enjoying being pregnant so I can relax and not feel guilty about it,” Port says to Rosenman at one point in the vlog. “But I’m also ready to have the baby so I can be in charge of my body and what I put in it, and not ever have to have any anxiety about getting pregnant ever again.” The five mini episodes will be released daily until January 8.
In July 2019, Port and Rosenman talked about their first miscarriage on Port’s podcast, With Whit. Port also shared the news on Instagram two weeks after suffering her pregnancy loss. “The amount of various emotions I felt in the past couple weeks have been extreme...from shock to sadness to relief, which then led to guilt for feeling that relief,” wrote Port, who spoke on her podcast about dealing with the confusing emotions of losing a pregnancy that had come at a difficult time. “My identity has been shaken in regards to who as a mom and human being. I’m currently in the process of learning to accept that my feelings are valid no matter what they are.”
Port is the latest celebrity to share news of her pregnancy loss in an effort to destigmatize the conversation and help others in similar situations feel less alone. In late 2020, Chrissy Teigen was applauded by many for providing a raw and unguarded look at her family’s devastation when she lost her son Jack at 20 weeks pregnant.
