Kim Kardashian is getting dragged online over her extravagant 40th birthday party

Kim Kardashian turned 40 earlier this month and celebrated her milestone birthday by renting a private island for her closest friends and family members. This would be an extravagant event at any time, but amid a global pandemic, Kardashian's ongoing desire to share her private life with the public has created a massive backlash. Kim, there’s people that are dying.Kardashian turned 40 on October 21 and celebrated by ordering contactless delivery take-out and Zooming with friends. JK, she rented a private island in an undisclosed location and flew a large group of her inner circle there on private planes. Kardashian shared pictures from the extravagant celebration, because obviously, and did her best to include addendums to her caption that showed she was aware of the gravity of the current state of the world. It did not have the effect she was hoping for.“There is not a single day that I take for granted, especially during these times when we are all reminded of the things that truly matter. Kardashian wrote that she surprised her inner circle with a trip to a private island where they could “pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.” Admittedly, a trip to a private island is normal in the Kardashian/Jenner/West crowd.Sharing pictures of herself posing with her siblings and close friends, Kardashian described the daily itinerary for the trip, which included dancing, riding bikes, swimming with whales, kayaking and movies on the beach. The social media star showed some awareness with her final line, writing “I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40.”

After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time. We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40

Even with Kardashian's acknowledgment about the ongoing pandemic, people were not impressed. It’s one thing to use your millions to celebrate during a pandemic, but sharing pictures online was a step too far for many who are suffering.

Glad to see the Kardashians are thriving while the rest of us desperately need a fucking $1200 bare minimum stimulus package that’s never coming in order to try to make ends somewhat meet.

I am in unimaginable debt because my mom got COVID-19. I can’t afford my normal. My normal is food, mental health meds, and therapy. The bare necessities. My water is getting turned off. But I’m glad you’re getting back to your normal on a private island.

Not everyone was upset with Kardashian’s birthday event. Many defended the celebrity for her decision to use some of her massive wealth and provide jobs for the travel industry that has been decimated by COVID.

What about the jobs she created by having staff to serve food, hospitality, and transport her family and friends? I bet they spent a ton of money to get that trip done. Let the woman share a fucking picture, my god I’ve got voting and my own shit to worry about. FOCUS PEOPLE.

people are really mad at her for spending her money? like i’m not the biggest fan of kim but if i had as much money as she did i would 100% be spending it on stuff like that. you can’t expect her to live like she earns minimum wage when she literally has billions of dollars.

Of course, it’s possible that Kardashian has privately made donations to various COVID relief organizations and has not posted about them.
