Multi-hyphenate star Teyana Taylor and Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Iman Shumpert had a bona fide “Labour Day” weekend. The superstar couple and
Teyana & Iman stars welcomed a baby girl on September 6, giving birth to her in their bathroom a mere day after Taylor’s baby shower.“At 3:28 am on Sept 6th 2020 Rue Rose decided that the baby shower thrown for her and mommy was too lit. She didn’t make the party but she managed to make the next day her birthdate!!!” Shumpert shared on Instagram alongside a video of the new family addition. He also revealed that, like her four-year-old older sister Iman Tayla (aka Junie), Rue Rose was born in the family bathroom.
“Now...when we buy homes, we always find a bathroom with great energy... but not in a million years would you be able to tell me we’d deliver both of our daughters in a bathroom without the assistance of a hospital!” he added. “Our newest edition entered the world in the water and came out looking around and ready to explore! A healthy child. A little sister. Another daughter. Black love wins....again. Welcome babygirl...we love you!”Also like her older sis, Rue Rose already has her own Instagram account where fans can keep up with all of her growth and milestones. At time of press there was
just one video with a well-placed sparkly light filter, but if
Junie’s Insta is any indication, Rue’s 58.8K followers should expect more updates soon. Meanwhile, Taylor posted that same video on her
own Instagram account with a repost of Shumpert’s message. “We love you Rue, welcome baby girl @babyruerose,” she added.Taylor first revealed that she and Shumpert were expecting again in June
via the music video for her song “Wake Up Love,” taking a page from Katy Perry’s pregnancy announcement playbook. In the last scene of
the video, the performer shares a kiss with Junie and Iman before pulling down the blanket and revealing a baby bump. No word on whether John Legend and Chrissy Teigen
were also inspired by the pregnancy reveal.“We’re ready, and we’re very excited. Iman is super excited. Junie is ecstatic—I’m talking super ecstatic. Everybody is just excited. I can’t wait. I’ve got three more months left until we meet our little princess,”
Taylor told People in mid-June.[video_embed id='2027121']RELATED: Beyoncé gifts flowers for baby Daisy [/video_embed]Back in 2015 when Junie was born, the couple were not expecting a home birth. Taylor went into labour three weeks early but didn’t even know she was giving birth until she felt her baby girl’s head.
Shumpert tied the umbilical cord with a pair of red headphones until the ambulance arrived five minutes later. While it’s unclear whether Rue Rose’s home birth was planned or another emergency situation, Taylor did reveal to Nick Cannon on his Power 106 Los Angeles Radio show that they were considering a home birth. She also revealed that they wanted singer/songwriter Erykah Badu,
who also works as a doula, present. However it’s also unclear whether she was able to make it in time."I'm considering home birth, and I'm actually going to be doing it with Erykah,"
Taylor said at the time. "Her and Iman are going to deliver my baby. I'm super excited. [I’m going to] have her just sing her verse from 'Lowkey' to me to calm my nerves… If I did it once without any type of warning I can do it this time fully prepared,” she continued. “Giving birth like that was scary, but it was such a powerful thing.”[video_embed id='2028516']BEFORE YOU GO: Chris Rock tells Naomi Campbell about his crush on her on her YouTube series [/video_embed]
