In case anyone needed further proof that Ryan Reynolds is a freaking gem, look no further than how he and wife Blake Lively have been spending their time while social distancing. Because donating a million bucks to food banks, working with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to help spread the message of social distancing, and helping out-of-work bartenders just wasn’t enough in their books, Reynolds also made a surprise virtual visit to Sick Kids hospital on March 30. Seriously, for fans, this guy may be the gift that just keeps on giving.“Our friend Ryan Reynolds surprised SickKids patients this afternoon with a virtual visit,” the hospital shared on Instagram. “Ryan joined @sickkidstoronto’s daily call-in show, which is broadcast to all patient rooms across the hospital. Ryan chatted with patients about Pikachu, having three young daughters, his favourite food (thin-crust pizza) and his ugly Christmas sweater—which helped raise over $300K for SickKids in January. Thank you, Ryan, for an afternoon we will never forget!”
In the video that the hospital shared, Reynolds answers fans’ call-in questions over a cup of coffee (or tea? Gin?!) with the help of a moderator, opening up about all of his favourite things. It wasn’t just a bright spot in the kids’ day, many fans and parents jumped onto the comments section to share their appreciation for his time too.Meanwhile, Reynolds and Lively aren’t just donating their time to help those in need during the coronavirus pandemic, they’re also donating their money. Just two weeks after they gave a million dollars to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, the duo made a personal donation to each of the four hardest-hit hospitals in New York right now: Elmhurst, NYU Hospital, Mount Sinai, and Northern Westchester. According to E! News, each hospital received $100,000 from the couple, so in other words they just donated another cool $400,000.Oh, and there’s more. Yep, more. In case you missed it, Reynolds, who also owns Mint Mobile, personally left a voicemail for all customers to brighten up their day and to announce that they would all be provided free unlimited high-speed data add-ons through April 14. Because no one needs another bill right now.If anyone has an application out there for Nicest Celeb on the Planet, they may want to send it Reynolds’ way. Because after the past few weeks of dark stories and sad news, he and Lively continue to light it up with hope and positivity.[video_embed id='1927603']RELATED: Ryan Reynolds, Seth Rogen join PM Trudeau’s efforts to flatten the curve[/video_embed]
