Canadian audiences have been familiar with star Dan Levy since the mid-2000s, with the son of actor Eugene Levy bringing his humour and pop culture knowledge to the set of MTV Canada on MTV Live and The After Show. But the rest of the world is now also getting to see the uber-talented Levy thanks to the breakout success of his series Schitt’s Creek. In a new interview with Vogue for their popular "73 Questions" segment, Levy talks about the ending of Schitt’s Creek, his favourite things and why his MTV Movie Award is so important to him.The segment touches on Levy’s beginnings in the entertainment industry, specifically his time on the then-newly launched MTV Canada. When asked about his most prized possessions, Levy reveals that it’s his relationships—plus, his MTV TV & Movie Award. “This is going to seem kind of boastful, but why not,” said Levy. “I’ll tell you why it means so much to me. I started my career at MTV as a television host, so to win this for my role on Schitt’s Creek is like a full-circle moment. It’s also very heavy, so I use it to work out," he quipped.
Now living in Los Angeles, Levy talked about his Canadian roots, which included giving Canadian artist Kris Knight a shout-out and showing off some of the painter’s work that hangs on Levy’s walls. The Canadian Screen Award and GLAAD-winning actor also talked about his favourite parts of Canada, listing the seasons and the nice people when asked what Toronto has over Los Angeles. As for his most Canadian quality? “I say sorry a lot.”Levy also revealed that while growing up in the Great White North, he didn’t know his father was famous until he was 15 and American Pie come out and was massively successful, leading to questions from classmates about whether the film was based on Dan’s life. For the record, Levy said no and he has not made love to a pie. The very busy multi-hyphenate rattled off some of his favourite things, including preferred cocktail (Cosmopolitan on the rocks), favourite movie (Bridget Jones’ Diary), and favourite song (“I Will Always Love You” - Whitney or Dolly, he’ll take either version). Levy did draw the line at ranking the best Beyoncé albums since they're all masterpieces. Ditto for Mariah Carey. The conversation later turned to the topic of the success of  Schitt’s Creek, which Levy created, produced, wrote and co-starred in with his father Eugene Levy, sister Sarah Levy, as well as Catherine O’Hara, Annie Murphy and Chris Elliott. The show is set to begin its sixth and final season in January and will leave behind a legacy of massive crossover success and some A-list fans, including  Mariah Carey herself, who, in turns out has a great taste in TV. The series earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series this year, with Levy telling Vogue that the past six years have “been a dream come true.”“I think when you do something that you’re passionate about, that you love, it just comes quite easily,” says Levy, who revealed that his favourite hat to wear on the show (if he ever wore a hat) was all the roles at once. “I loved doing them all at the same time. There was something quite amazing about having an idea that only existed in my head and by the end of it, seeing it come to life,” says Levy. “It was fantastic.” As for what he’ll miss the most about the show, Levy doesn't hesitate: “The people.”
